More good PA poll news for Obama (details about PPP poll method)
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 02:52 PM by Alhena
This makes me more confident in the PPP poll results- they did an extra night's polling to confirm their results. This article also confirms that Obama is getting the "just let this thing be over" vote. I've thought loyal Democrats might rally to Obama in response to the Limbaughs of the world trying to drag this thing out. Looks like it might be happening. The fact that they used automated polls also eases concerns about the alleged "Bradley effect" - white voters not wanting to tell pollsters they are voting against the black candidate.

When asked which candidate they would vote for, 45% of the 1,224 respondents to PPP’s automated telephone survey chose Obama, while 43% opted for Clinton. ... Officials from Public Policy Polling say they were also surprised by initial results showing Obama pulling into a statistical tie with Clinton. So much so, in fact, that they opted for an extra night of surveying before they were confident of the data. “We basically ran twice as many calls as we usually would,” said Tom Jensen, communications director at PPP.

...

At any rate, Jensen ascribed voters’ change of heart to growing anxieties that a drawn-out nomination fight may hurt the party’s chance of defeating the likely Republican nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, in November. “People just want to wrap this up,” Jensen said.
