Lets face it, Jewish people have shaped the democratice party to what it is today. Despite the Fundie Reich Wing trying to court them to the dark side to promote genocide, it seems that it might not be working. California looks bluer than ever, and NJ is clearly not in play despite all the propaganda spewed out by the vile media.

If the jews abandon the dems, the dems will no longer exist. And I'm glad they are sticking with it and are going to win back the country.

"7. The GOP has also targeted Jews. Again, there is no evidence their appeals are working. In the 2004 NSRP, Jews favor Kerry by 46 points (70-24)."

Working people have made the Democratic party what it is today.

3. I know we have a big tent in the Democratic party and that is why
I like it. But you have to admit (and I cannot pinpoint the WHY exactly...there are many reasons) that Jewish thinkers and intellectuals have made great contributions not only to the Democratic party but to a lot of institutions (scientific, philosophic, literary, artistic, business, etc.) around the world.
By the same token, we can see that the contributions of people of Jewish extraction to "off the wall" nasty activities of human endeavor (i.e., PNAC in our country) have made these activities even more harmful.

2. women are the backbone of the party
So are African Americans, Labor and those people with a college education. But you are right, the jewish vote and liberalism has always been very important to the party.
I hear that this year we are going to have a new group. Arabs are planning on voting against bush in large numbers.

4. agreeing and amplifying
and I say amplifying in case my quibble comes across as a disagreement which it really isn't because of how I read the intent of your post --
Silly person that I am I like to think of it in terms of people are the backbone of the party as opposed to faceless corporations, as opposed to ...fill this spot in with some other soulless entity of your choosing.

10. Interesting
This is true... but, alas, they will vote Kerry anyway. They've had enough of Bush. While they may agree with his more conservative views on marriage, homosexuality and abortion, they will not risk their lives and the countries from which they either came or from where their religion is based to vote for Shrub.

BTW - I just want to let the board know that Arabs are Semetic, as well. I find it ticklishly funny when some neo-con supporter of the Lukid party in Israel calls an Arab anti-Semetic. What? They hate themselves? The name "Semetic" means "descended from Shem, the son of Noah" and includes some Jews (not all Jews are Semetic - Sammy Davis Jr. and Roseanne Barr come to mind - being "Jewish" is more of a religion and a culture, not a race), Arabs, Arametic people, some Egyptian people and some Persians.

However, all this aside - what strikes me about Clark is that he has a Jewish background and is revered also by Muslims. Who better to send to help smooth over the Israeli-Palestinian problem (but he really needs to get over the wall thing. It would be an OK idea if the Israeli's would give the Palestinians some water. But, that's not in the plans). And I LOVE Clark - however, I trust that he would study it more if he were to be tapped as peacemaker.

5. Jews Have Shaped Our Middle Eastern Policy, Too
Which is why they bother to label Zinni as anti-Semitic (not unlike people who criticize Likud party tactics).

I guess being Jewish is like being a witch in Oz - there are good witches and bad witches. Then again, that's probably a silly idea, too.

8. The Jews and Catholics...part of that New Deal Coaliton.
Recall the the Jews, like the Catholics, came up in an urban, blue collar environment, and where a part of the urban wing of the New Deal Coalition, which was essentialy the modern Democratic Party (including the South, too..but they started to bolt, first via the Dixiecrats).

So, yeah, the Jews are a key part of the Democratic coaltion, and, if y0u look at the voting numbers, they remaing very loyal Democrats.

9. That's good news. I've been worried about this.
I've been really worried about Jewish people bolting our party. It worries me because sometimes it seems like these modern Republicans are stronger defenders of Israel. The thing is -- and I've been trying to tell all my Jewish friends this --the modern Republican party is in bed with the nutcase Christian Right. Those fundamentalist Christians want to protect Israel for perverse reasons: They want it to exist so Biblical prophesy can come true, a prophesy that at the time of the rapture, "The Jews will cry out for the one they have so long rejected." -- Pat Robertson quote.

I'm glad to see the majority of Jewish people are not falling for this shit. Republicans only want Israel to exist so the Jews can be properly punished for "not accepting Jesus Christ as their savior."
