I guess this is her last ditch appeal to Black voters?

Who called this last week? I know someone here did.

Hasn't she ever heard the tale of the Girl who cried Wolf?

or perhaps, the Girl who Cried Crocodile?

9. here's a bit of her spiel
Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 04:06 PM by JackORoses
"Like many of you here who are of a certain age. I will never forget where I was when Dr. King was killed. I was a junior in college and I remember hearing about it and was feeling such. I walked into my dorm room and took my book bag and I hurled it across the room. It felt like everything had been shattered. Like we would never be able to put the pieces together again you know I joined the protest march in Boston It worked to convince my college to recruit more students of color, but it felt like it wasn’t enough..."

In other words, she's telling Blacks, "I really really like you, pretty pleeeeeeeeeease, be my friend again"

49. But she was Goldwater Girl at the time
Oh, right, she was really active in the civil rights movement while she was a GG. She is so full of crap she doesn't know what story she is going to tell or what she is crying about from one day to the next.

68. Not true.
If you want to say she's full of crap, fine -- but at least keep your own facts straight. She wasn't a "Goldwater Girl" at that time, and after the assassination she worked for the McCarthy campaign.

...because of the looming anniversary of MLK's sniper-murder. And she makes a JOKE about it?

Now today she's boo-hooing again.

She is the most disgusting wretch I have ever met, and I cannot wait until her raggedy ass leaves the primary race.

We can safely assume that she has no emotions; therefore any emotions that
she displays during a political speech, are most likely contrived.

It's pretty much a no brainer at this point.

74. I went to Radcliffe and we all carried bookbags
Green canvas with a rubbery lining, bought at the Harvard Coop, with a single heavy drawstring through the top. You'd tighten it up and then sling it over your shoulder in an insouciant manner, holding it by the strap in front. Googling on "Harvard bookbag" or "Harvard book bag" turns up a few dozen references, all referring to the 1950's or 60's.

I wouldn't doubt that the practice had reached as far as Wellesley. So you can doubt Hillary if you like, but don't use bookbags as evidence.

IMO, men get away with getting choked up more than women do. For guys, it's showing a "human" side and it's endearing. When women do it we're viewed as weak, unstable, or manipulative.

37. Respectfully disagree - I think the base has already
accepted Barack as the nominee.

Why? 40 million vs. 20 million

Why? O Clinton delegates in my precinct - a predominatly white middle class neighborhood

I do, however, agree that it might be time to let go of the Hillary hating. I suspect her tone is due to her understanding that she will not receive the nomination of the party. Something, I suspect, she felt entitled to.

The base acceptance of Barack is difficult for her to accept.

She will, in time, but not there yet - IMO.

We don't need to start a new anti-Hillary post every time she shows emotion. She's a human being, for crissakes, we all tend to get a little emotional from time to time. There's plenty of legitimate issues to go after Hillary on. We don't need to manufacture bullshit stuff like this.

She has gone a long way to help this nation never get to the mountain top.

Her dirty tricks campaign against a man that MLK would have loved speaks volumes. She and her husband have spit on the African American community during their MARCH to the White House.

She should reread every speech and recall that she told Richardson " he can not get elected" meant only one thing.

I Have a Dream that one day she and her husband will apologize to the African American community and I hope it happens before PA.

26. Hillary Crying
I'm not going to make assumptions about the sincerity of whatever degree of emotion that she is trying to display here, but I will say this much.

Actions speak much louder than words, and the problem that Senator Clinton is experiencing with Black voters can be directly traced to her activity in this campaign and the choices that have been made by both her and her surrogates to literally throw Black voters under the bus for political gain.

If these primaries and caucuses remained focused on the issues (instead of non-issues), Senator Clinton could possibly be performing much better than she has been performing among Black voters. No speech that she could make or no legacy that she could honor would make Black voters forget that.

You don't shit on a community of people that loyally voted for and supported President Clinton (and defended him in turmoil he experienced while in office) and reward them with the load of crap that they've had to endure in the primaries. She should take the 10%-15% of support she's receiving now and be happy with it. Tragically, if her campaign hadn't gone down this road, she probably would be performing much better.

40. Hillary can dry her eyes with 100 dollar bills, no problem
Why the double standard?

If a man running for president dares to cry, his campaign is DOA.

But Hillary weeps at will and its all good?

I guess its just sexism, eh?

And her smile's a thin disguise
I thought by now Clinton'd realize
There ain't no way to hide her lying eyes.
Clinton you can't hide you lyin' eyes.

My oh my, you sure know how to rig things
You set up the party so well, so carefully
Ain't it funny how your sniper story didn't change things
You're still the same old warmonger you used to be
