Poll question: Kerry/Gore 2004 - What do you think?
Edited on Sat May-29-04 07:47 PM by Cronus
I heard a rumor, just a rumor mind you, that Kerry is considering Gore as a VP candidate. I doubt he would accept, but given the glut of Kerry/McCain explorations on DU, why not consider Kerry/Gore - Gore is a Democrat after all, and a damn good one too.

For background information: http://cronus.com/gore

it still and will forever stink that gore is not president.

gore began to slip past bush in october 2000 precisely because he used populist themes, themes that scared the ever living shit out of the deep pocket types, the media and their pimps. thus gore was savagely attacked as a divider all the while he was bringing the working class and disenfranchised together.

al gore is about the closest thing we have nowadays to robert f kennedy

2. I like Al Gore, but this is not his time
He needs a few more years off before coming back. I doubt he will be running for vice president if he does decide to come back.

3. Agreed
Much too complicated to have Gore number two on the ticket.
Kerry doesn't need to make any drastic moves and Gore as Vp is DRASTIC.

4. Gore is a punching bag for the SCLM.
They've collectively agreed they can say anything at all about him. He's crazy, he's a liar, he's a born loser. We don't want that on the ticket.

6. Yes, but not like Gore.
Look at how his speech was received. No supporters, and a bunch of Bushists saying he's crazy. They can only do that to Gore. It's unfair, it sucks, I agree.

8. That s what I think.
Al Gore was Veep for 8 years & a terrific one.

He should be President right now.

I don t think he would want to be Veep again, but if that is the ticket, OK with me.

10. It would pull focus from Kerry
...which is not what's needed. Part of the potency of the idea of Gore running again was the grudge-match aspect. If Gore were to follow Kerry at events (or, as the campaign's use of Edwards and Clark would suggest, as a surrogate headlining events by himself), Gore would overshadow Kerry, both because of Gore's growing strength as a speaker and because the implicit subtext of the event would shift from Kerry's plan for America to The Big Payback.

11. I think that the V.P. should not be picked from that very narrow circle
of the same names that we have seen and heard over and over again. If Kerry will choose Edwards, or Clark, or even Gore, the reaction will be: "so what?"

I hope that he will surprise and energize us with someone that no one has expected or guessed. I have no idea who, but someone new, someone fresh, someone who did not run in any presidential primaries.

Oh and, yes, I voted "a sure loser."

12. Anybody think Al Gore likes Will Riker from Star Trek TNG with the beard?
Maybe we could make a new president show starring Patrick Stuart as the POTUS and Al Gore as the VP.
