In divorce papers, Jack Ryan faces no-win situation (Obama opponent) |
|
In divorce papers, Jack Ryan faces no-win situation Daily Herald Reports Posted 6/11/2004 Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jack Ryan of Wilmette is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place when it comes to the release of his much-hyped divorce papers.
If either Ryan or a California judge releases the documents, which are thought to contain embarrassing information of a highly personal nature, Ryan's candidacy could well be swallowed up by a swirl of controversy about his recent past.
snip-----------
The controversy over Ryan's refusal to disclose threatened to derail his candidacy the week before the March Republican primary. The campaign manager of an opponent claimed to have seen a copy of the papers and released a statement containing the salacious alleged details. But the media, lacking their own verified copy, didn't bite. Ryan held firm in his argument that the papers need to remain sealed to protect his young son. And he was able to keep one in three primary voters in the fold, enough to win. Ryan now is fighting in court against two media organizations over the papers, with a ruling expected June 17.
If the custody documents are released and say what they are alleged to say, some Republican leaders say they fear Ryan's candidacy would be devastated. Conservatives could revolt, increasing pressure on GOP leaders to persuade Ryan to drop off the ticket. Independents who have yet to decide between Ryan and Democratic nominee Barack Obama might write Ryan off before the summer even starts. While only Ryan can withdraw from the ballot, the pressure for him to do so from Republican leaders reaching potentially as high as the White House could be overwhelming. Nationally, control of the Senate hinges on a few key races like this one.more---> http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_story.asp?intID=38149175Barak Obama looking like gold!

3. This guy can stick a fork in it |

Let's just hope it doesn't overheat too fast, allowing him to be pushed out of the race in time for a new candidate to emerge. Once Karl Rove gets involved Ryan can forget about it.

i hate to see a side show like this.(i am surprised that there was no mention of the blair hull situation, which, i think, is why this did not get more play in the primary) ryan is the next al salvi- a slobbering neanderthal republican. he deserves to be soundly defeated. i think this will generate more sympathy than anything else, but could still taint obama's victory.

7. That's the rumor I heard |

By refusing to release some people will wonder if the reality is worse than the rumor. He should do himself a favor by clearing the air and releasing the documents.

Why this particular turd floated to the top of the repug bowl in Illinois is still a mystery to me. He has nothing to offer but his own money to buy a senate seat. Obama is going to embarrass him in November with a lopsided victory.

It's the "IN" thing with repugs. You don't need issues or policies, all ya need is image. true or not. He's a good looking guy who was married to a beautiful celeb, self made millionaire who quit his lucrative trading job to teach in the inner city. At least that's HIS story as told by HIS commercials. He has half a Bil in the bank and took one frikking year to teach at a private school, and I will guarantte you it was not out of compassion but rather with an eye on the senate and image.
He makes me sick.

12. The funny thing about his commercials |
|
All the student in his "class" looked college age or older. They did not look at all like an inner-city high school class that the narrator was describing.
