It's Not WHO McCain And The Rethugs Will Throw The Most Shit At |
|
it's who is best equipped to handle the shit that they throw. Hillary attacks and it comes right back at her. Every time she's gone after Obama, she sinks her ratings more than his. Why the hell do you think that would play out differently in the general if she's the nominee? And Obama hasn't even really attacked her. McCain and the repukes won't be nearly as kind to her as Obama's been. When she attacks she comes off as desperate and nasty. She sucks at it. Obama comes off as relaxed, humorous and smooth. Call him a con man or whatever, but he's so much better at campaigning than she is.
Hillfans say that there's sooo much more to throw at Obama. Are you freakin' kidding? First of all, the repukes have been doing opposition research on Hill and Bill for 7 years, putting together a portfolio of new Clinton crap. Secondly, they don't need or care whether information is factual. They'll gladly throw out lies and innuendo about whoever the nominee is. The line that Americans aren't interested in Clinton dirt is hill-arious. They always have been, and they always will be. And the majority of Americans are ready to believe, the most outrageous, the worst crap about either Bill or Hill. Impervious to right wing attacks? Not even close. Hillary's favorability is in the toilet, and even Bill has suffered from his shenanigans over the last few months, with his favorability falling sharply.
So the point remains, who is best able to handle attacks in the general? I don't think that could be clearer. Barack Obama has survived Rezco and Wright. He'll survive bitter-gate. He has game. She doesn't.

1. You're right and the Repubs are paying attention to her lack of ability |
|
to fling crap at Obama and having it stick. They're watching for vulnerability and she's a loose cannon. Good post Cali.

2. Yep, and let's not forget all the loot the Clintons raked in. Does |
|
anyone think Bill's ties to Colubia, UAE, China, etc., won't be investigated and made a big deal of? Yes, he's not running, but it won't matter. That's what she'll get for making him such a big part of her resume.

anyone who thinks that old scandals won't pop up and resonate, is living in a fantasy world, and yes, Bill's personal life over the past 7 years would be an issue.

17. Look at this graph of Clinton's speechifying... |
|
:wow: I imagine someone will be picking this apart. Clinton's Golden Voice Bill Clinton earned $31 million in speaking fees between 2001 and 2005, as disclosed in his wife's Senate ethics reports. This page lists information about each speech and the amount the former president earned. http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2007/clinton-speeches/list/

18. That loot is over a seven year period.....Why has nothing been said about |
|
McCain's wealth...Its seems Democrats always pick up on a Republican tactic like making an issue out of the Clinton income when in reality its a non-issue.Democrats can sometimes be a Republican's best friend when it comes to repeating Repuke propaganda or an issue that is kept in the headlines because Democrats keep it there.

McCain hasn't yet AFAIK? And because there are some 'irregularities' in who big dawg was keeping company with? Google Bill Clinton + Columbia, + China, + UAE, and tell me what you think of his involvement. I guarantee the rethugs will be researching this.

I think she could be a very competent administrator. Of course we will need much more than that in the next few years.

|
And her record speaks for itself. We need a leader not a policy wonk out there in the WH. Why do you assume she will be a good administrator?

29. She knows how the system works. Re health care-- |
|
--we did not have an effective grassroots ground organization pushing her and Congress on the issue. Both Obama and Clinton have admitted publicly that single payer is the best option. That means that both are very pushable on the issue. It's up to us to do the organizing.

historically the repukes favor throwing the proverbial kitchen sink and have no hesitation about doing it. Why do you think this election would be an exception?

There's a groundswell of public opinion against them. They've lost money. Their power at the state level has been decimated. Voting groups have greatly reduced their ability to flip elections. And even they don't like their candidate.
You can also tell their whipped just by looking at them. There's none of the creepy self-confidence they displayed in 2004.

Both President Bush and Senator Obama have campaigned as "Uniters.", but are really dividers. Haven't we learned that lesson? Their are many more but I doubt you would listen so I'll just leave it at that.

27. I'm sorry, but there is no evidence that Obama is a divider |
|
and that theme is an old chestnut, hardly new when bush used it. That really doesn't show that they're alike in any way. And if you have this great insight as to how deeply similar the two are, you should really share it.

28. There is plenty of evidence Obama is a divider, just look around this place, |
|
and the rest of the internet. Obama and his supporters have run the most divisive campaign that the Democratic party has ever seen, all the while claiming to be the uniter's. Spare me your bullshit, or not I really don't care. I don't believe it from Obama and I certainly don't believe it from you.

this is what I've been saying. It's not what poo or who they throw it at, it's how quickly and well the person it's been thrown at reacts to and handles the poo.
