I have to agree that Senator Obama has lied in his campaign ... on TV for all to see, |
|
It's obvious. When he said "you're likable enough, Hillary" he was clearly and blatantly lying.
For shame, Senator Obama. For shame.

1. I still do not understand |
|
what the big deal was about that comment? I mean it is not like he said, "Oh you are quite a bitch Hillary!" Goodness. Ridiculous! I do agree that no matter what he says he does not like Hillary and he will not be her friend afterwards. How could you want to be friends with someone like her? I think he is trying to be polite but he does not like her. I don't blame him at all though. She has given him plenty of reasons not to like her.

4. She was playing Nell on the railroad tracks ... |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 11:57 AM by TahitiNut
... engaging in the melodrama of how "unfairly" she has been depicted. She was inviting the public to Rescue her from the Snidely Whiplash was Victimizing her. Instead, Obama donned the Mountie uniform and played Rescuer for poor Nell. Preferring to remain on the railroad tracks, poor Nell tried to assign Obama the Snidely Whiplash role. Heaven forbid anyone deny her that starring role! Poor Nell!
Sometimes melodrama is an amazingly apt metaphor for social (and political) posturing. Senator Clinton is asking for support in the form of a "rescue" (votes) from Villainy. (From the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to those schoolyard bullies who say she's unlikable.) Obama merely preempted her ploy ... playing Dudley Doright to her Nell and relieving the voters of adopting the Rescuer role. (It's easy to get seduced into the stage play.) Her supporters, in full Rescuer costume, painted Obama as the Villain. (In this melodrama, the role of Snideley Whiplash is usually assigned.) It's essential that everyone auditioning for Victim point to someone as the Villain. (Even Munchhausen's Sydrome can be viewed as melodrama.)

11. She certainly has been playing the victim card a lot. But few people vote for a victim. |
|
Playing the victim card is asking for pity votes. "Poor me *sniff* they're all so mean! Won't you please vote for me? *sniff, sniff*

19. At the time I was an Edwards supporter, and ambivalent about both Obama and Clinton |
|
I saw the "likeable enough" comment as simply a bit of good humor from Obama. It came across as a defence of Hillary, while at the same time a tongue in cheek reminder they were in a competition, so his defence had limits. Clinton's reaction, which I think was genuine, showed me she took it exactly that way.
I think she's somewhat more likeability-challenged now.

I thought someone finally found a flat-out lie from Obama.
People here have been doing some seriously strenuous stretching latey to paint him as a liar. I guess at least they get a good workout from the verbal gymnastics, maybe. :P
