I Just Received a Hillary "Push Poll" in PA
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 09:26 PM by JPZenger
Tonight, I received a push poll from Hillary campaign operatives. I live in Pennsylvania

The following is from memory, and the words may not be perfectly correct.

At first, they used wording that did not reveal who they were working for. They waited until after I said I was voting for Obama before they asked me the questions. They asked whether I would be more or less likely to vote for Obama if I knew that:

- his campaign chairs in Nevada and New Hampshire were lobbyists and that he accepted $2 million from lobbyists

- he missed Foreign Relations Committee meetings, even though the Foreign Relations Committee is responsible for Iraq,

- he made the comments about "bitter" people and their guns, which they read to me.

After they went through their list of attacks, they asked whether I was still planning on voting for Obama.

They also asked my religion, my views on partial birth abortion, my views on gun control, whether I was born again, and how often I go to church. In 15 minutes of questions, there was only one mention of McCain.

The guy conducting the poll was sharper than the typical polling person.

11. No, it was an organized effort
This was not one person using a call list from a campaign. It was 15 minutes long with many carefully worded questions that tried to be scientific. The questionaire was written by a professional firm. The name of the company was something like like "RS".

27. No, I listened carefully to see what they were asking
Push polls are valuable to see what types of TV ads a campaign is going to use.

35. Call their main PA office tomorrow
I already called the office in Wynnewood and let them know. Nobody answered at the central HQ in Philly. The # is 215-564-2010.

You should send this to the media too. Where in PA are you?

8. Hillary has no money. It was from the RNC. In 1972 CREEP did push polls pretending to be from Dems
If Hillary had money for push polls she would spend it on ads.

13. No, they didn't ask Republican questions
I listened very carefully to each question to discern who was behind it. The RNC would have asked completely different questions. McCain was only mentioned once, and that was: which Dem would have a better chance against McCain.

18. I think that right now the RNC is pulling out all the stops
to try and facilitate a Hillary win. Their man McCain only stands an ice cubes chance in hell of winning if he can run against Hillary and her high negatives. Obama would not only win, but he may be able to draw numbers that will radically change the makeup of Congress, stunting any Republican measure of power. I can absolutely see the RNC being behind this, or possibly the DLC.

41. McCamy she isn't doing any push polls, I can promise you that
I had suggested the campaign do robo calls monday in a conference call because I read Obama was doing robo calls but I was told no we wouldn't be doing them. And besides that much of the message is way out of character with the Clinton Campaign. Born Agains isn't even a topic of discussion.

Not sure where in PA you are. I tried the state HQ but nobody answered...you should give them and your local field office a call though tomorrow. The people in the Wynnewood office really appreciated it. Where in PA are you? You can PM me the response if you don't want to say here.

Here is the list of all the offices with their phone #'s:

24. May have been the total of his State Senate races
I don't know for sure. They may have totalled all of the donations from his State Senate races. On www.dailykos.com, a guy posted about how Obama returned his donation because he was a registered lobbyist. He only worked for a non-profit organization, and was surprised the campaign was so strict in enforcing its rule.

26. They didn't. It's fabricated. "What if you heard x, y, and z?"
That's what push-polls are designed to do. Plant a fabricated seed in a voter's mind so they change their vote.

32. Sure it was actually from someone representing the Clinton campaign?
Asking about your religion, "partial birth" abortion, whether you were born again, and whether you go to church makes the call sound like it was from a reich wing group pretending to be calling on behalf of Clinton.

42. So check this out, when I was on the Obama site I was looking over the phone banking site
And I thought, you know I could register and become a phone banker for Obama and give a similar message as what the OP described. Use Obama's dime to connect to folks in PA and bank negative messages. However, I didn't of course because it would be ethically wrong but I was thinking how it would easily be done. And the call would register under Obama's Campaign and the code and pin number used that day is what every caller uses the same day. I suppose people could do that to make a candidate look credibly bad. Also, when they traced where the call came from, and they always do, it would reveal where it came from. Also, KOS would not run a story without evidence on this unless it is vetted or otherwise they would be libel.
