ABC news tracks down Obama hater to be questioner at debacle of a debate.
WASHINGTON — Nash McCabe is the voter from Wednesday night's presidential debate who noted that Barack Obama doesn't usually wear a flag pin and asked, "I want to know if you believe in the American flag."

ABC, which hosted the debate, had tracked her down after she was quoted in a New York Times story about white voters in small-town Latrobe, Pa., revealing her as 52, out of work and against Obama.

What is WRONG with ABC.

That's who was running that debacle.
Let's just put that shameful event behind us, we've gotta focus on Hillary's demise in Penn. :D

3. Tracked her down for what reason.......cause they, themselves didn't
want to ask the question? The did anyways? and then some other really ridiculous ones, like......Does your pastor (who was a marine with 3 presidential commendations) love this country as much as you do?

Damn......this is like living in the USSR in the 1960s!

17. regardless of the pastor's credentials
it was an idiotic question

totally unanswerable and pointless. Like "have you stopped beating your wife?"

might as well have asked "does Hillary love kittens as much as you do?"

You and I and most of DU would say they've done more to
shit on the flag than anyone in many many years.

33. Ooops, the right-wingers have moved the goal posts...
To be patriotic, are you supposed to believe
in the Flag, or Jesus?

I'm confused....

45. Patriotism is a sort of civic religion
We teach it to our children. The icons of the religion are to be revered and treated according to a prescribed code. There are certain rituals, like saluting the flag, and hymns like the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful are to be sung.

6. I don't think she's an Obama hater. Rather, I think she is one of
the people to whom Obama was referring when he made his "bitter" remark.

Look, this woman is unemployed, yet she thinks that wearing, or not wearing, a flag lapel pin is the deciding factor in who she votes for. I'll bet if someone who cared about people like her (like lots of us) sat down and talked to her, and more importantly, listened to her, she might eventually realize that there ARE more important things to base one's vote on.

than all the hell she has been through. She still has more hell to come, from the sound of it.

10. No she does not
It's an excuse to not vote for Obama, because she is either solid for Hillary or a solid Republican.

People who say they vote for cockamamie reasons, like flag pins, are really hiding things like engrained beliefs that they just don't want challenged. It could be religious on abortions or gays, it could be a belief that unions and regulations drive away jobs, it could be that welfare people cause taxes to be so high. That ridiculous flag pin represents a whole host of issues that a person doesn't have to debate because they never talk about them and never will. They just find some ridiculous 'gotcha' and away they go.

Why can't they just be honest and present questioners they don't have to "track down"?

I think ABC REALLY needs to hear about this and I hope it gets a LOT of coverage.

IS THAT WOMAN RETARDED??? come on that "Debate" is turning out to have been a hatchet job from beginning to end. A GODDAMN PLEDGE PIN???? I mean a flag pin? turn it over it says "made in china" and the colors are shiny because of leaded paint. I would care about her plight if she were to at least ADMIT she was racist.

I am so fucking livid over the tabloid journalism...

24. Her chance to be on national teevee was to ask about a lapel pin ONLY. One shot. She took it.
I can have a little compassion for her. She was used but had a moment of fame.

Someone should talk to her about what she really wants.

27. "White voters in small-town Latrobe, PA" Background.....
Latrobe, PA is in Westmoreland County which has an overall population of African Americans of 2%. Most of those 2% are concentrated several larger towns within the county. Latrobe is NOT one of those towns; it's probably about 99.9% white.

Latrobe is also the home town of Richard Mellon Scaife, owner of every newspaper in the county.

That may be true in Obamaland, but not here.

I thought the question sucked, but why does it matter who asked it? If Obama gets the nomination, he's going to have to try to reach out to a lot of voters other than just his present supporters.
