:( But as you point out with the thread you posted, true members of the democratic party see it and long time friends are turning away from her and her negative campaign. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5560972

It is too bad pogroms are no longer fashionable. So many people at DU would have so much fun with them.

Obama to step down and get out of the way of the true nominee.
There are no caucuses in the GE.

Even if those in her campaign aren't comfortable suggesting she pull in the reins, Kennedy and Dodd (among others) have come out and said it. One of the pundits described it as her being in full kamikaze mode -- that's how it seems.

6. Does Obama understand that he isn't entitled to Hillary's voters? That a lot of them hate |
|
the way he has slimed her? That if he wants her support in the Fall (if he wins the nomination) that she can't be accepted to do so under condescending terms where she is offered "redemption."

14. Personally I'm so sick of that threat |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 04:08 AM by Asgaya Dihi
The Clinton supporters threaten to take their ball and go home if their candidate isn't handed the election in spite of losing in every respect, in spite of polling worse for the general than Obama, and in spite of their having run a scorched earth campaign which has seen long time friends and allies of theirs turn away in disgust. And you think it's Obama who has slimed?
I think you're confusing the anger and reactions of some of his supporters with the man himself. He's done a pretty good job of staying above it all and didn't even hit her really for the sniper fire bit, or others. She'd have hit him but he tried to be better than her, and succeeded. That's why he'll win and she'll lose.
Want to take your ball and run home? Go ahead. If Obama loses the general all the gesture buys Clinton supporters is 4 more years of repub Supreme Court nominations, more years of war with the associated debt and other costs, and assuming I'm right about Clinton appearing in repub campaign commercials with clips of what's already been said and done, probably the hatred of a large enough portion of the party than another run in 2012 or any other time is fantasy at best.
But if he wins, and without you, even worse. If he can pull enough crossover voters and enough of those who don't normally vote at all, and the polls make it look like there's a chance of it, then that makes the Clinton supporters who sat the race out politically irrelevant. Replaceable. What little swing or pull you think you'll have left when this is all over depends a lot on how this all works out. If it's proved that they can win and without you then your whole power block becomes something less than required, for anything, and the party really doesn't have to worry much about what you think.
I see no upside to the threats and I see no upside to carrying them out. I see a lot of downside for your cause in both respects though. From a practical perspective I'd prefer to have the help of anyone and everyone to assure the win, but from a personal aspect it would be nice to reduce or eliminate the influence of the people who keep pushing the party to the right. I can take it either way.

8. The real question is: does she understand the concept of "wrong" at all? |

Or is it just about what she wants?

I am glad he has sort of stayed on top of it by not saying so many of these things about her. They are all so petty. The odd things is that their are people who will not vote for some one for these petty things. Give me a brake Clinton. A flag pin and one knows some people who were once bad people? Like this stuff rubbed off on the poor man. And the people she has been around?

12. for the Clintons, "listening" is just a political tactic |
|
unless it's their DLC masters, Mark Penn, or one of the Neocons that Hillary seems to want to impress with her cold-blooded warmongering with the big boys.
Certainly they have nothing to prove to the Democratic Party base.

She's too stupid to understand that she is not only hurting the party and the country, shes hurting herself. She has destoryed her political career. It's over she'll never be elected to anything again.

She's not giving up because you want your candidate to win? Oh no! You poor, poor, child. Get over it, she,s not handing to Obama on a silver platter. Just because DU is overwhelmingly pro-Obama, the nation as a whole is not. That's just a fact that chews on some Obama supporters here. She owes it to her supporters and contributors to continue as long as she has a chance to win.
It is so pathetic to see people here telling her to quit because they are tired of worrying if their candidate is goint to win or not. I don't want Obama to win the nomination as much as you want Hillary to lose it, so we'll just have to let it play out, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it except accept that that is the way things work.
Whine, whine, whine!
