FOR the LOVE of GOD, PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS SHIT. |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 08:46 AM by dmsRoar
When a board full of intelligent, informed, critical thinkers swallows perhaps the most damaging premise ever put before the electorate, we're in big effin' trouble.
Mainstream media says: The primaries are a vetting process.
We say: We have to vet our candidates.
Mainstream media says: The Republicans will attack the Democratic candidate on his or her associations/personal history/lies etc etc etc.
We say: We have to select the candidate who doesn't have anything the right-wing smear machine can attack.
TRUTH: THE RIGHT-WING SMEAR MACHINE WILL CREATE WHATEVER SMEAR THEY THINK WILL BEST WORK FOR THEM. THEY DON'T USE ACTUAL FACTS--EXCEPT, EVERY ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE, AS AN INITIAL JUMPING OFF POINT ONLY.
Please don't parrot the MSM's misdiagnosis of how the general election will work. It won't have to do with the right attacking either of our candidates about facts X, Y, or Z. It will be about the wingnut smear machine CREATING A, B, and C. You can't vet against creations.
But you can counter-meme the coming swiftboating. John Kerry WAS a war hero, remember. The Republican 527s aren't interested in truth. They're interested in fantasy. Both our candidates have bought and parroted the MSM misdiagnosis, so it's up to us to start to re-meme this thing now. YOU CAN'T VET AGAINST FANTASY. THE REPUBLICANS AREN'T INTERESTED IN THE TRUTH.
This notion should be entrenched here first, and we should put it to the voters now, before the general election starts, in order to prep the public for the coming fantasy smear campaign.

1. You're right, they'll create things from out of context quotes |

and if they're reaching for questions about Ayers, pretty soon, he'll be getting asked about somebody he went to 2nd grade with that later got a speeding ticket.

Al Gore, an intelligent and decent man, and turned him into the arrogant HS geek, and we should elect the guy we would have a beer with ...
John Kerry, an intelligent and decent man WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY WITH HONOR, and turned him into an American hating flip flopper ...
Jesus Christ himself could come to this planet, he could be a committed husband and father, serve in the marines and single handed capture Osama Bin Laden, he would have detailed plans to balance the budget, solve our issue with energy indepence, provide affordable health care to every american while cutting our taxes, and these freakin scumbags would find a way to paint him in a negative light, and the media would go along with it ...
Jesus, TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ... We want actual flaws in our president ... The heartland just won't support some know it all who has all the answers ...

3. Politics in general are a vetting process.... |
|
I guarantee you any politicians opponent will bring to light anything they can to bring them down. It's the nature of the business. Sure, there are going to be lies, look who's in the damned whitehiuse! In the end, it's what you can make Americans believe, and in some respects, what they really want to believe. Been like that forever.

9. The media is not there to vet anyone - we are. Demand a better media. |
|
American's gave up the right to bitch about the media and laid down on the job when Ronald Raygun was running for President.
Raygun was only slightly better than Nixon.

What you see are the political hacks here spinning shit. No intellectually honest person would take this stuff seriously. Times have changed.
