LA Times: Hillary Clinton dissed party activists and MoveOn.org
Apparently Hillary Clinton hasn't always been enamored with the rambunctious nature of the historic fight for the Democratic presidential nomination. Speaking to financial backers after Super Tuesday, she blamed the party's activists and MoveOn.org for her early primary and caucus defeats, according to an item over at The Huffington Post.

"MoveOn.org endorsed -- which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down," the item quotes Clinton as saying (there's audio on the site).

Her campaign, she continues, had been less successful in caucuses because those gatherings bring out "the activist base of the Democratic Party... hey are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

2. I think Moveon.org makes this stuff up
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 08:23 PM by tularetom
Every time some asshole disses them in the press they get a big giant influx of contributions. I did it once when they were getting beat up in the media over the Gen Betrayus ad.

Now they won't leave me alone. Every day an email asking for more $.

Sounds like Hillary's whining again.

NOTE: For the sarcasm challenged I'm joking.

6. The audio tape just played on MSNBC would suggest otherwise ...

duplicity in motion.

Oh my, now HRC is going to throw the liberal wing of the Democratic Party "under the bus" along with David Schuster, Susan Powers, Geraldine Ferraro, Reverend Wright, Trinity Community Church of Christ, All Churches who preach "The Social Gospel" , San Francisco, and last carcass --> Mr. Ayers (now a respected College Professor). :nuke: :wow: :scared:

10. Dan Abrams had a good report on it on MSNBC.
Audio and text. It was pretty damning for Hillary.

7. Yes, it was.
It started out as something like "Censure and Move On."

Irony abounds.

12. It's okay, Bluebear--it's in the LA Times' BLOG.
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 09:32 PM by rocknation
It all started during the 2004 Democratic convention--a couple of dozen bloggers were invited to cover it as if they were members of the "legitimate" media. MSNBC in particular counterattacked by instructing their staff (more likely their assistants) to write "personal" blogs as well as file their regular "real" news stories. As the animosity between bloggers and the corporate media increased, the practice spread even beyond the political arena--the TMZ/Time-Warner connection, for instance.

Of course the word "dissed" wouldn't be caught dead in an LA Times newspaper or on the web site, but this story is in the blogosphere, baby! Free of the shackles of commercial and political considerations, the blogosphere is where otherwise "professional" journalists are free to let their off-the-record alter-egos all hang out. And since it's now possible to get mainstream news AND counter-cultural blogging from the corporate media outlet, we should FORGET about those Daily Kos/Atrios/Rawstory types--one-stop media shopping is now available, step right up!

Didn't somebody just write "irony abounds?"

8. Is she talking about those same pesky "activists"
who made the November 06 elections possible?

So this is her final campaign strategy: run Obama through the rethuglican noise machine "for his own good." Maybe Gorgeous George really DID slip her a cheat sheet before the debate!
