My Brother wrestled on the same team with Paul Wellstone
in High School, I went to the same School and wrestled on the same team when
Paul had already left since he was a senior when my brother was a junior.
I knew him in my youth from my brother involvement with the wrestling team

The Conscious of a Liberal ...... great review on Amazon. Com

I go to Chapter 9 titled A Winning Progressive Politics, where the author notes 'A progressive politics is a winning politics, as long as it is not organized in a way that is top-down and elitist.

It must respect the capacity of ordinary citizens and focus on workaday majority issues. I have never understood arguments for the need for politicians to 'move to the center' to get elected. What is the operational definition of 'the center'? If what is meant is that you need to have more votes than your opponent, then I am all for being in the center. But this is too obvious. If what is meant by the center is the dominant mood of the populace --

the issues that are important issues to Americans and what they hope for--then I would again argue for the need to occupy the center. A politics that is not sensitive to the concerns and circumstance of peoples lives, a politics that does not speak to include people is an intellectually arrogant politics that deserves to fail.'

'Clearly, there is a forgotten American majority. It is precisely this America that our politics today fails to serve fully and fairly. This America faces major challenges: low wages, insufficient health care, nonexistent pension coverage (the majority if private sector workers have no pension coverage), daunting child care expenses, rising college expenses, and exorbitant housing costs. These Americans can't hire lobbyists. They can't fly senators and congressmen to resorts. They don't fill the campaign coffers of political candidates. Only when these Americans are given proportional voice in politics can we claim to live in a truly representative democracy.'

Please read more ...... it is really good!

I mourned him when he was assassinated, but I see a rebirth in his ideals and progressive thought
for this PASSOVER, that we need to help us save our nation.

HE WAS POINTING TO THE SKY that we should aim for AND NOT AT YOU!

4. I don't know much about him, other than he was a great Progressive!
What do you mean by assassinated, though? I thought he died in a plane crash. Are you suggesting sabotage of the plane? I am honestly curious, as it seems the best of the Progessive voices throughout history get killed.

It's "Wellstone!" and I bet you can't watch the whole thing without tearing up or without feeling grateful.

7. thank you so much..... it is a film that all Democrats should see
You can get it on line for free.

He gave me hope that the progressive portion of the Democratic party was alive.
until he died right after 911.

8. I love the Wellstone School song.
"My school is Wellstone, I go to Wellstone, I learn at Wellstone" -- because Paul's life is a place where we can go to learn, in the old tradition of examining the lives of exemplary people.

I love the whole thing. Watching him crack jokes and get loud and having spats with Sheila -- all the messiness of a real human bean. Stories of driving with Paul, lol! And on the DVD I have, his two anti-war speeches on the floor of the Senate.

It's enough to remind you we're vertebrates. :toast:

10. I am bless to have met him
I had the same wrestling coach, I went on to be undefeated.

The war was a big thing in my high school by my senior year,
after burying friends of my brother at Arlington.
I quit wrestling. and became to take those lessons
to the battles that the progressives must wrangle with.

17. If you google Wellstone murder, assasination of Wellstone etc.
you can read some of the theories of his plane having been sabotaged. I haven't read any more than the stuff on the net, and it does sound suspicious, but don't really know what to believe. I know that I put absolutely nothing past this criminal administration, including murder, but also don't think they're automatically guilty of everything anyone accuses them of...( or maybe they are...)

12. God save and keep Wellstone
But I hope now and then, he lets him roam the halls of the Capitol Building, shaming those who need to be shamed, and inspiring those who need inspiration.

15. Keeping Wellstone close helps me remember I'm not nuts
for objecting to every abuse. And that's its right to push back, and to try to keep us together. Simple moves but they get lost or degraded or drowned too often in this climate.

16. Until..... we are thrown under the Bus as liberals or progressives
For too long, in this party, we had to sit in the back of bus when we use to drive it
at one time, and give it direction. The strange thing is........... the elite don't take the bus
they own the bus company and set the rules and the routes. The bus system's route
has been taken over to take everyone to the Mall of America rather than to a meaningful
destination.
