President Kerry and Vice President... |
|
...Ralph Nader. Kerry needs some progressive cred and Nader needs someone to give his 1-2 million votes to. Sounds like a match. Go Kerry/Nader in 2004!

Maybe it's just me, but I believe Nader has lost his credibility, progressive or otherwise, with this run. We may need to neutralize Nader, but naming him VP doesn't seem to be a winning strategy to me.
I do agree that Kerry could use some more progressive support, and I am hoping that pragmatism (or simply fear) will propel some Nader fence sitters to pull the lever for Kerry on Nov. 2nd. We need to join together, gain the power to govern, and then DEMAND that the democratic leadership reflect the values of the people it represents, imo.

Nader stopped being a progressive long ago.
His 1-2 million votes would be offset by the 10-15 million votes that would be lost by putting an egomaniac with NO government experience in the #2 spot. It's a stupid idea.

6. nader's gets wide support... |
|
...for his consumer activism. If he's got an ego, it's because he's earned it after decades of anti-corporate lobbying... which has produced decidely positive results. No government experience? Sounds like a compelling qualification to me, if ever there was one. But, of course, anyone who's been as successful as Ralph in hitting the gov where it lives should be considered an expert in how the government works or doesn't work.

I think millions of people would reject him as VP. You may gain 1-2 million Naderite votes, but you'd lose 10-15 million more.
Sorry, running a few non-profits doesn't equate to being able to step into the Presidency.

9. What the hell has Nader done since 2000? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? |
|
His hasn't exactly been a major voice of dissent during the last 3 1/2 years of the right-wing trashing of everything.
If this were 1976, Ralph would be a hellified veep candidate. But it isn't. And he isn't.

In fact, Nader hasn't changed his tack one iota- he's has always been a reliable basher of corporate politics and the legislation pushed through by shameless greedheads on both sides of the aisle.

Vice-President Ham Sandwich, and I'd vote for either one.
