Sec. of State: Barack Obama |
|
Think about it.
Obama would be widely respected, accepted, appreciated and effective on the international stage as our #1 ambassador.. This also would be a golden opportunity for him to work on his resume for 2016.
Hillary could break with tradition and announce his cabinet position soon after she becomes the nominee.
A good way for the party to soothe the hurt feelings and move forward to November.

Depending on how the rest of the contests go, it's possible that the superdelegates might determine that Obama is perceived as too inexperienced to win, and there might be a case for a joint ticket. But I think having an insurmountable lead in delegates has at the very least earned Obama a spot on the ticket no matter what.

136. All these "-gates" are being ginned up by Team Hillary and her cheerleaders in the M$M |
|
Weathermangate? Barack Obama is three years and a day older than I am. During the Weathermen's heyday, he would have been eight. "Mommy, can I go bomb a recruiting station with my friends? Pleeeeze?" Besides, many ex-'60s radicals have "gone straight". Jerry Rubin's a flippin' stockbroker, for Pete's sake.
Bittergate? Sen. Clinton has had some less than complimentary words for working-class voters as well, specifically Southern ones: "Screw 'em".
Rev. Wrightgate? Here's another money quote: "God has a way of standing before the nations with justice and it seems I can hear God saying to America "you are too arrogant, and if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I will place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name."
Oh, wait, that wasn't Wright, it was Martin Luther King. My bad. :-)
So there you have it: it's the M$M that is marketing Obama as "damaged goods". The ABC farce debate the other night was (one hopes) the nadir of it all.
As to the bumper sticker, at least it wasn't Pun. No. 11,432,538 on "lei'd"!

Obama showed bad judgement in allying himself with a former Weatherman-would-be-cop-killer. You can make all the excuses you like about that one, but mainstream America is a little less forgiving.

The logical consequence of that would be, should Clinton be the nominee, that the M$M would feature reruns of the '90s classic "MonicaMonicaMonicaMonicaMonica!!!" 24/7, with an occasional break for "Hillary is a lesbian who was having a torrid affair with Vince Foster before she had him killed". :eyes: By now it should be clear that any Dem candidate is going to be swiftboated. Look at the abuse presently being heaped upon Jimmy Carter!
Obama may not even have known of Ayers' Weatherman past. It's not like there's a historical plaque on the house that reads "Former member of the Weather Underground lives here". As for GDA, the full quote is considerably less scary: "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human...."
In both instances, a then-obscure candidate for the Illinois state senate and a preacher are being retroactively placed under the microscope of a national political campaign. Who among us lives our lives thinking, "If I do this, it'll come back to haunt me when I run for President"?
It is increasingly clear that there is only one way to resolve this dispute: the consumption of a case of Corona on Opihi's lanai. :-) And I can guarantee all of you the ensuing debate (with Opihi in the Gibson/Snuffleupagus role) would be far more entertaining that anything you'd ever see on Faux or BSNBC!
And lest we lose sight of the real enemy here, McClown had the chutzpah to go to New Orleans today and say, if he were President, he would have gone there after the Federal Flood! Remember, he was eating cake with Bush while it happened. Did he urge Bush to go? Well? That's what I thought.

Candidates run when they consider the opportunity right, and Obama's time was right. The nomination would long have been Hillary's had she not spent her time in the Senate triangulating as a Republican, and Obama wouldn't have stood a chance. Besides, if it was strictly about who's turn it was, then Hillary should have stepped-aside for Biden or Dodd, who both have more experience than she does.
Obama is winning because of Hillary's perceived weaknesses and his perceived strengths. Royal succession doesn't enter into it.

67. Even if I supported Clinton, I truly would see that Obama will probably be the nominee. |
|
It's hard truth to see your opponent with the advantage. I honestly think the best the Clinton supporters can hope for is for neither Clinton nor Obama to be the nominee. There is simply no way that the pledged delegate leader - who is African-American - will be denied the nomination in favor of the pledged delegate loser. Another dark horse, possibly. I know, I know, it's technically within the realm of possibility that Clinton could emerge with more pledged delegates, but the chance of that is so thin as to be quite remote.

|
I personally don't see any scenario where Clinton could get the nomination without making him her VP. Even that might alienate some of his supporters, but if she gets the nomination despite being behind in votes and delegates and does not put him on the ticket it's going to be a disaster. I would probably still vote for her, but I am not going back to the majority black neighborhoods in Philly that I canvassed on Tuesday and asking them to come out for her. If they said they felt betrayed and she did not deserve their vote I could hardly blame them.
I have a friend who is African American and supports Clinton, and I hope he will go to those neighborhoods and ask them to come out and vote, because as a white person I would not feel comfortable doing it.

145. You want to soothe hurt feelings? Tell your monster of a candidate to stop slandering our nominee. |
|
You think stealing the nomination and sending him to the back of the bus will soothe hurt feelings?
He's the FRONT RUNNER. Offering him anything but the Presidency is a slap in the face and will NOT soothe hurt feelings.
He doesn't need to work on his resume. He's every bit as qualified as she is.
He doesn't need her to offer him jack shit because he's winning this thing all on his own.
Oh and WHEN he does become the nominee and eventually President, I hope that he does NOT offer her the VP slot OR a cabinet position OR any other appointment. I hope that someone challenges her for her Senate seat and that she LOSES by an embarrasing margin. I hope she is forced into an early retirement so that she and her philandering husband can devote more time to their sham marriage. And I SINCERELY hope she spends the rest of her days polishing her rifle and duck hunting in Scranton.
You want to soothe hurt feelings? Tell your monster of a candidate to stop slandering our nominee and attempting to slime her way to the nomination.
That is all.
