Obama targets Kentucky - TV ad
http://polwatchers.typepad.com/pol_watchers/2008/04/obama-targets-k.html

"Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama has launched his first TV ad aimed directly at Kentucky voters.

His campaign began airing an ad called "Toughest" on WKYT-TV in Lexington today. He has had commercials up in the Louisville media market for several days, but those also are aimed at Southern Indiana viewers, who vote on May 6.

The ad, a geographically generic spot that does not mention Kentucky, touts Obama's pledge to "reign in special interests."

"They have not funded my campaign. They will not run my White House. And they will not drown out the voices of the American people," says Obama, a U.S. Senator from Illinois."

13. It is NOT an "Obama lie"...take off the blinders
She said that back in the 90's and was quoted in a book that had nothing to do with Obama.

If you're not seeing or hearing what the Clintons do or say, it's because you choose to ignore it.

9. They really need to play the "Screw 'em" here...
...play it early and often. Obama will win Louisville and Lexington, but he'll need some help in the outlaying areas. I think "Screw-gate" could pay big dividends here. He doesn't need to win Kentucky, just make it closer than it is now. Hillary has a 25+ point lead (Depending on who you ask), and if he can get it under 10, that would translate to more conversion from working class whites, which is what he'll need.

10. Not a great ad
I get it. He says he doesn't take money from special interests. So claims every other politician. This isn't why his campaign took fire. He needs to either go back to the well of real oratory - not red state, not blue state, but United States, that kind of thing. Show who he really is. Something earnest that could only come from him, not from his ad agency. My $0.02.

12. Unfortunately Kentucky is a lost cause
as is West Virginia for Obama. Oregon is the same day as Kentucky and the net delegate count from the two states is going to be close to 0.

15. No, even if O wins OR, because KY will be a blow out for Clinton. OR will be close either way

14. I was in on that Obama phone bankers conference call...
and they sounded very resigned on WV and Kentucky. They emphasized delegate thresholds a lot.

16. Here's why. Obama may not even get to 35% in either state
There are few latte liberals and few blacks in either state, especially West Virginia. These two states will really put his limitations as a candidate on display for superdelegates, especially WV since it is a stand alone primary and the MSM will have to spend a week talking about it.

Obama lost the counties in OH and PA that border WV in blowouts. Clinton consistently reached the 70's in them. In two counties he lost 78-19.

Ordinarily he would close the gap significantly, and he still may do it here (even if he does he will still lose in a blowout), but that is unlikely. He spent $2 million a week on television ads alone for 6 weeks in PA and he still won only 37% of the white vote. That was with a bunch of latte liberals in Philadelphia and the Philadalphia suburbs. It is hard to see him matching that performance in WV, a very poor state, and KY.
