I know this is a few weeks old, but I didn't bother confirming the rumor that I'd heard till today. Cheers to JC!

Monty Python comic John Cleese backs Barack Obama
April 09, 2008 12:00am

Comedian John Cleese has a crush on Obama - and he wants to be the White House hopeful's speechwriter.

The legendary British funnyman, known for his hilarity in the groundbreaking "Monty Python" TV series and movies, told a British newspaper that his comedic chops could help the Democrat capture the Oval Office.

"I am due to come to Europe in November, but I may be tied up until then because if Barack Obama gets the nomination, I'm going to offer my services to him as a speechwriter because I think he is a brilliant man," Cleese, 68, told the Western Daily Press regional paper.

"I live in California now and only come back to England in May or June when my personal assistant tells me it is safe to do so," Cleese said…

(Apparently Cleese suffers terrible chest infections during the English winter.)

None.

I posted this about Cleese a while back, it was great news.

The Black Knight was one of my favorite all time scenes from the Holy Grail.

The latest example of a Type Three infection is this notion that Barack Obama "can't close the deal." Instead of admitting that Hillary is losing the Democratic nomination, her supporters are trying to go viral with the idea that (1) because Obama hasn't yet officially won, he can't win and doesn't deserve to win and (2) because Hillary refuses to admit she's lost, only she can win and deserves to do so.

Has that got you feeling a little woozy? Is your mouth dry, your head spinning and your forehead warm? You'd better sit down; you may be catching a meme. But don't worry, I've got the cure.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

4. A cameo for Obama in the next "Monty Python" movie?...
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 01:49 PM by ClassWarrior
(Obama) campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the candidate is ready to negotiate employment opportunities with Cleese.

"If he can throw in a cameo in the next 'Monty Python' movie, we have a deal," Psaki said...

5. Oh why the hell not. There's no dividing line between politics & entertainment anyway, anymore.
Not to mention, the world be better off if comedians ran it.
