Edwards, Lincoln same age at election; Edwards more qualified
On paper, John Edwards is far more qualified than Abraham Lincoln at the same age. Lincoln had been a congressman in the 1840s; Edwards has been - far more recently in his career - a U.S. senator. Both have been successful lawyers; both had seen, by this age, the death of a son. Lincoln at his inaugural in March 1861 was 52 years and 20 days old. Edwards at his inaugural (we must hope) will be 51 years, 7 months. The inexperience argument simply won't wash, especially in light of George W. Bush's "vast" foreign policy experience as a one-term Texas governor. Don't let them get away with it. Like Edwards, a proud member of AARP here (but I don't look that good).

2. Kerry and Edwards need to go on a President Lincoln bus tour
Remind America of a past great lawyer, who was in some of the greatest debates of our history.

3. Yep, and the Lincoln Bicentennial is in 2009
Check it out, our finest American, and a great lawyer who was proud to be one.

4. Sure, another great "uniter and peacemaker"
Their bus would be firebombed in the South.

5. I have to admit that I sort of enjoyed Tweety
referring to Edwards as "that kid" or "that young guy" tonight. But only because Edwards is 17 days older than me.
