1. Nothing like a 3 weeks poll
I guess Gallup still uses the pony express to collect information

5. Huh?
The data I'm looking at says that it was taken between June 9 and June 30.

I don't understand a polling firm taking 3 weeks
to do a poll. A poll at best is a snapshot in time. A poll done over three weeks seems, well pretty pointless.

19. This poll would include the Reagan bounce
because it started June 9. That's another reason the numbers are skewed. His approval rating in polls taken after the Reagan bounce ended have him in the low-to-mid 40s.

2. What the Cheney?
Are any of these pollsters subject to independent audit? We all know that any organization that is "self-policing" kind of like Shrub's new environmental self-policing leads to disastrous ends. I seriously question these poll results unless the freepers were led to believe that the sleight-of-hand "turnover" of sovereignty was more meaningful than it really was. I would like to see the result of an array of polls before I give these results any credence.

8. This is very unusual poll... 3 weeks of data and the 53% part
Edited on Tue Jul-06-04 11:06 PM by fearnobush
is indeed unusual since the poll also lists 48% would prefer a generic Dem candidate over 43% for a generic Repuke.

This Poll below is a better "feel good poll"

American Research Group Poll. July 1-3, 2004. N=773 registered voters nationwide. MoE ± 3.5.
.............Bush....Kerry...Unsure
7/1-3/04...45......49.......6

12. This poll has many problems
as many have pointed out, it is taken over a three week span.

The reason for this I believe is because they were trying to hone in on black and hispanic opinions, and massively oversampled those two demographics, so that when they published the final poll it took massive saucing to get it back in line.

I don't think that Gallup is actually touting this as one of their valid polls because it is not reflected anywhere in their website except in the notes of this article. We'll find out if they get more specific when their release is put out around midnight.

17. If his approval is truly 53%
he could be reelected.

The CBS and WSJ polls had him in the mid-low 40's though.

18. I've said it 100 times.
Public polls like these mean shit. Internal polling data taken by the campaigns, which costs mightily I might add, are what you want to see. I got mine from an internal source that has dimsun having real trouble even with his nazi base. If things remain as they are with the economy grinding along and Iraq with business as usual, this administration better have their bags packed.
