As a Clarkie, I'm overwhelmingly relieved that it's Edwards |

He's not perfect, nor my first choice (I wanted someone with foreign policy, like Richardson or, y'know...), but without naming any names, we could have done MUCH worse.
We can win with Edwards and his media charm, which is what matters--with JE, I don't feel a massive sense of despair that Kerry or the Dems (Cheney)'d up massively.
I do hope the boy gets a few days worth of serious foreign policy tutorials at some point, though.
As for Clark, I am still sticking with my prediction from a month ago: he will be the first Secretary or Head of the brand new Office/Dep't of International Development that he proposed. Indeed, a major and well-respected bipartisan think tank called the Center for Global Development proposed exactly such a structure in its influential report on weak and failing states (Google that puppy). You heard it here first!

1. The VP neednt be everything .... |
|
With Nunn, Albright, Berger, Clark, Rubin, Gore, Clinton and the Democratic party Foreign Policy regulars behind himL he doesnt NEED to be perfectly versed in diplomatic nuance ...

4. Yeah, that's a sweet lineup! |

I hope that Edwards listens to them well...and that the campaign will throw a bit of the spotlight on those folks too.
Actually, Nunn is a bit too blue dog for my taste--swap him for Richard Holbrooke and throw in some Samantha Powers, Joe Wilson, and Rand Beers, and we'll really be cooking!

with your first part. I trust Edwards will be fully up to speed. As to what Clark does in a Kerry Administration, I note your prediction, and will give you full credit if you are right lol.

3. Yes, relieved is the word. |

I really like JE, not my first choice but he rounds out the ticket. If Iraq isn't the biggest issue by Nov Kerry has his back covered with Edwards. The administration and the media will certainly try to minimize Iraq. As for jobs and the economy this is about as good as it's going to get and will be an issue. Clark will find a place and he will still be out there campaigning.

Pretty good! DC is soooo much fun!
A little stressed at the moment, since I have to rush to get this assignment done tomorrow...but I have the Internet where I'm staying now, so maybe I'll AIM chat a bit tomorrow night? How are you?

7. I'm also a Veep clarkie. |

Edwards was my second choice, and a very close one at that. I prefered Clark because he wasn't a Senator, he was from the South, and he had a strong military background. Needless to say Edwards only has being Southern working for him, however he DOES have political experience as a Senator, which is a step up from Wes. Though the Repukes will be hammering the fact that he was a successful Trial lawyer pretty hard. Then again they could hammer Wes for his time travel remarks. So all in all, I am happy with the choice.

9. Relieved is an understatement for me! |

Honestly after being here for that scare from the NY Post I was ecstatic that it was Edwards. I of course would have loved to have seen Clark picked but Edwards was just fine by me!
I have no doubt that Clark will have a prominent spot in the Kerry Administration.

I am thrilled especially after reading the Late Breaking last night and seeing the New York Post claiming that Gephardt was the choice. I personally have nothing against Gephardt but I was so disappointed, it came as total pleasure later to hear it was Edwards! :bounce:
