Another good sign
So I was talking with a former coworker (actually, former boss), whom I am meeting for lunch today.

He said, "It's either you, or Kerry."

Now, when the 2000 Pre-Selection was going on, he was leaning toward Bush. Also Catholic (church, schooled, some of his kids private schooled).

I was "Funny, I don't picture you as a Kerry man."

He: "You're right. But it's the best we got."

Me (incredulously, but keeping voice normal): "Oh, really?"

He: "Yeah. You got Kerry, who thinks too much, " pause " and Bush, who doesn't think at all."

Me: "I'd rather have somebody who thinks than one who doesn't."

He: "Yeah. You're right."

That was the gist of the conversation, if not verbatim.

He said that Kerry "may have opened the floodgates with Edwards", in a way that seems like "Edwards is going to lose it for Kerry".

My friend sounded "defeated", that he was reluctantly going to vote for Kerry (yay!).

I'll see if he's seen "Fahrenheit 9/11". Doubt it.

Update later. Maybe.

1. That's good but...
your friend thinks Edwards will hurt Kerry?

2. Not sure if that's how he meant it, but yeah.
That's how it sounded.

Maybe he meant it like "Kerry's got a tidal wave"; just blowing Bush/F'nCheney out of the picture altogether.

Maybe it's a typo?

5. Phone conversation. What do you think is the typo?
His tone was that he really didn't want to vote for Kerry, but he's admitting disgust at Bush, ergo the "defeated" tone.

6. Just spoke with friend. Can't make lunch today. Friday maybe.
He's on east side of Cleve, I'm on West side, Kerry's traffic may still be in the middle.
