"Obliterate" Why no outrage? |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 01:42 PM by Patmccccc
Spread that word far and wide. HC doesn't deserve the position anymore because of that statement alone. A very, VERY dangerous woman. A madwoman, no different than * imo. She CANNOT defend her irresponsible statement. And why the hell isn't it getting massive attention. JESUS CHRIST!!! WTF is going on in here?

Doesn't that give you the warm and fuzzies? My parents were on a Government/Diplomatic mission in Iran when I happened to be born. Therefore, excuse me if I take MAJOR OFFENSE to her desires to OBLITERATE an entire sovereign nation even if they only happen to be STINKIN' Persians. :grr: :nuke:

11. Mention of that got a HUGE reaction in a panel this weekend at the LA Times book festival. |
|
The Ackerman ballroom, packed to the gills, there to hear Howard Fineman, Amy Goodman, Hugh Hewitt and Tom Hayden discuss defining American character. The "obliterate" thing was mentioned in passing, and the crowd went nuts (booing, hissing). Overall, a very anti-Hillary crowd, which I found very interesting.

:nuke: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-obama_mon_nusep17,0,2613902,print.storyb] By Mike Dorning September 17, 2007 On foreign policy alone, some 200 experts are providing the Obama campaign with assistance of some sort, arranged into 20 subgroups. On the domestic front, more than 500 policy experts are contributing ideas, campaign aides said. Veterans of previous election campaigns say the scale of the policy operation resembles the full-blown effort candidates typically undertake for a general election campaign rather than the more stripped-down versions common for the primary season. --------------------------------------------------------- "These are not outsiders trying to tear down the temple," said Philip Zelikow, a former senior Bush administration foreign policy official and executive director of the Sept. 11 commission.
"If you guess that he's surrounded himself with people who are highly ideological, left-wing or dovish, you would guess wrong," added Zelikow, now a history professor at the University of Virginia. "These folks cannot easily be typecast by ideology." ------------------------------------------------------------------- "These are people who think new thoughts -- within the mainstream, new without a capital N," said Blinder, now a professor at Princeton University.
The campaign policy team gathered around Obama is hardly a shadow Cabinet. If he wins the nomination, other Democratic policy experts who now are neutral or allied with a different candidate will gravitate toward him. If he's elected, still more will join his circle.
But the makeup of the group, and the way in which Obama deliberates with its members, offers a window onto how he might operate as president. Many of them surely would graduate to influential roles in an Obama administration. Their discussions of the broad range of issues a presidential candidate must address provide an early if imperfect drill for decision-making in the Oval Office. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Big-picture operation
Unusual for freshman senators, who typically concentrate on the daily demands of legislative activity, Obama created a small operation devoted to broad themes under policy director Karen Kornbluh, another former Rubin aide. Kornbluh has written of the need to update government benefits such as Social Security and private employee benefits to take account of the country's shift toward two-income families. It is a theme Obama included in his book "The Audacity of Hope" and frequently sounds on the campaign trail.
His staff quickly began bringing in outside experts for wide-ranging discussions on policy: trade over Thai takeout in his Senate office, energy over dinner at a trendy Capitol Hill restaurant. Obama brings the Socratic style of a law professor to policy discussions and enjoys the give-and-take of opposing views, advisers said.
"It's very spirited," said one longtime aide. "He tests out ideas and challenges people. Nobody is allowed to be quiet." -------------------------------------------------- Since Obama announced his presidential campaign, he has been deluged with offers from experts to assist with policy advice, said campaign aides and outside advisers. Though they attribute that to enthusiasm for Obama's candidacy, his campaign also provides greater opportunity for the ambitious, because front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) relies on an established circle of advisers.

|
She responded "Obliterate them." What would you do? Have a tea party.
Get real.
She wasn't asked if Iran threatened to nuke Israel. She wasn't asked "If you had intelligence that said that Iran was going to nuke Israel what would you do?" She wasn't asked "What would you do if Ahmadinejad (sp.) gave a speech about nuking Iran?"
She was asked what she would do if Iran NUKED Israel. Iran nuking Israel would obliterate Israel. At that point the time for talk is over.

of the crap you all are bringing up. The question was "What would you do if Iran nuked Israel?"
So, logically, then, if Iran did have the capacity (which I don't think they do) which is what the question implied, then what would you do? Have a chat?
You are just looking for ways to put her down. It was a simple question and a simple answer. That's why the press has ignored it.

30. Ahmadinejad said roughly the same thing |
|
about Israel and it caused international outrage. (There was some dispute over the translation but that apparently ended up favoring the "obliterate" meaning.) In fact Ahmadinejad's "obliterate" remark was used again Sunday night by Bob Simon in his 60 Minutes piece about the Israeli Air Force.
Was she sending a counterpunch at Ahmadinejad? Is that the level she is on when it comes to diplomacy? Exchanging threats and inciting conflict? Is that why she voted for the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment?
You'll have to ask the corporate media why they CHOSE to ignore it when Hillary said it.

Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of deaths construction In the fields the bodies burning As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds Making war just for fun Treating people just like pawns in chess Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning As the war machine keeps burning No more war pigs of the power Hand of God has sturck the hour Day of judgement, God is calling On their knees, the war pigs crawling Begging mercy for their sins Satan, laughing, spreads his wings All right now!

She was stating what is right now and has been the policy of the US, that we have the capability to obliterate

"In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them," she said.
