Wes Clark's new marching orders
Got this email yesterday. Not sure if everyone has seen it yet.

July 7, 2004

We have only 117 days left. Are you ready for the fight ahead?

It was this time last summer that I began realizing the power of your grassroots activism. And today, I urge you, one of my earliest and most active supporters, to help reunite our incredible army of activists -- your own Clark Corps -- to take the lead in the fight against George Bush and his Republican allies in the days ahead.

ACT canvassers have already reached over 2 million voters in battleground states. Learn more, watch the short film “An American Voice” and join ACT’s Day of Action this Saturday.

The election ahead of us will be decided by voter turn-out in key battleground states -- Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New Hampshire, and others. And in these states, one of the leading organizations spearheading the fight on the ground is an independent group called America Coming Together (ACT).

Learn more about ACT and get involved today!

ACT is the largest voter contact effort in history. Every day, ACT fields canvassing teams from 45 field offices across 17 states, and ACT grassroots volunteer groups are being organized nationwide. By Election Day, these teams and thousands of ACT volunteers will personally contact over 17 million battleground state voters, registering hundreds of thousands of new voters and fueling Democratic victories.

In an election that will be decided by the narrowest of margins, ACT’s work will make the difference in the areas -- in the very precincts -- that Democrats must win. Wherever you live across America, I urge you to help ACT in the critical months ahead and participate in activities developed specially for Clark supporters. I know this effort will elect John Kerry and John Edwards to the White House and Democrats to federal, state, and local governments nationwide.

Sign up to join ACT's "Clark Corps" today!

To get an idea of the scale of ACT’s incredible effort, consider this:

In 2000, Al Gore lost Ohio by just 165,000 votes. So far, months before the elections, ACT-Ohio has reached over 420,000 targeted Ohioan voters at their front doors and registered over 100,000 new voters. Ohio is just one of ACT’s 17 targeted states.

This Saturday, ACT, MoveOn.org, and a coalition of 30 other organizations will host a National Day of Action. And ACT is inviting our Clark Corps to participate.

Join ACT now to learn more about their work and to find an event in your area this weekend.

Our campaign was about bringing new leadership to the White House -- and it started with your leadership in your own community. Today I call on you to be the leaders of the Democratic fight in the days ahead.

With great appreciation,

Wes Clark

6. Glad to see Clark joining the progressive coalition
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 12:30 PM by Cheswick
DFA, Wellstone Action, Take Back America, Progressive Majority and ACT have been working together for months. Clarks organization is a welcome addition.
I hope some of you will join us at next years Take Back America Conference in DC. This year it was heavy with Deaniacs, imagine if several hundred Clarkies joined us? It would be a great 3 days.

7. And More Marching Orders - Support the DSCC
http://action.dscc.org/DSCCSenate/notice-description.tcl?newsletter_id=2848100

Dear DSCC friend,

What an exciting week to be a Democrat! With John Kerry's announcement of John Edwards as his running mate, Democrats have an inspiring team to lead us to victory in November.

And, with your continued hard work, we can win -- and not just win the White House, but Congress as well. In fact, your support helped the DSCC set an online giving record of $300,000 last quarter. Thanks to your contributions, the DSCC finished the second quarter strong and is primed for the November elections.

Once again you proved the power of grassroots action. No one knows the power of that force better than me. My campaign started as a "Draft Clark" blog that quickly grew into a movement of tens of thousands of volunteers and online donors, like you, who gave their time, help, and money to a cause greater than themselves. I continue to be so grateful for all the support and inspiration that they gave me. Most of all, it was an honor to help concerned citizens participate fully in our democracy -- proving once again that Americans working together can make our voices heard and make a difference.

That's why the DSCC wants to introduce you to some new voices -- the voices of other online activists who are working to defeat the attacks from the Republican mean machine and to help good Democrats win Senate races all across America, including my friend from Alaska, Tony Knowles. You will hear from life-long DSCC supporters and bloggers who will share with you their views on the need for a Democratic majority in the Senate. Next week you will hear from Matt Stoller, a longtime supporter of mine and writer for "The Blogging of the Presidency." It is with Matt's help, and others like him, that we come together to fight for 51 -- a Democratic Senate majority -- in November. We are not alone in our commitment to return America to the right path.

The Senators we elect in November will vote on the next appointments to the Supreme Court, determine the cost and availability of health care, and decide the quality of our children's education and environment. A Democratic Senate can and will put our country back on the right track -- but the only way we will win that majority is with your continued support of the DSCC. So if you weren't able to make our June 30th end of quarter deadline, I invite you to help now.

I am on the road constantly these days, campaigning hard for fellow Democrats in close races across the country. I can tell you first-hand our party has never been so united and confident in who we are, what we believe, and how we are going to make America even greater. Please help us keep the momentum going and the power of "We the people" growing. Contribute to the DSCC today!

These next four months are critical for the future of our great country -- an opportunity for us to bring real leadership back to Washington. We can do better. We will do better. And we will do it together.

With great appreciation,

Wes Clark
