why don't dems start calling Bush/Cheney "the most conservative
ticket ever?" I mean swing voters are put off by the extreme right as much as they are by the extreme left--maybe even more so. If they can keep calling Kerry/Edwards "the most liberal ticket ever" which is rediculous then surely we can call Bush/Cheney "the most conservative ever"--not to mention incompetent--maybe that is it, when in a debate with Bush and Bush starts saying, "We're up against the most liberal ticket ever." Kerry should say, "We'll we are running against the most incompetent administration ever."

4. Nothing conservative about them.
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 10:47 AM by Old and In the Way
Are they fiscally conservative? $300BB surplus to $500BB deficit in 3 years...'nuff said.
Are they politically conservative? Nation building and Patriot Act.
Are they religious conservatives? Religious Hypocrites, yes.
Are they environmental conservative? Absolutely not.

So just what is conservative about their agenda?

They are neither liberal or conservative in their politics. Their agenda is making $ for their friends.

I'd say The Most Criminal Ticket Ever is a far more appropos descriptor.

13. The most extreme ticket ever? The most extremist ticket ever?
Which is correct? "most extremist" doesn't sound right, grammatically speaking.

6. Well for one thing...
they aren't conservative. They're purposefully spending money we don't have to bankrupt major social programs. That is what the dems should be hitting on, but for some reason, its not a major talking point.

15. Kerry calls them "right wing" extremists
he uses "right wing" rather than conservative. because conservative is associated with many positive things which this administration does not have. right wing is a better term which is why kerry uses it.

16. Regressive, backward, medieval, feudal, Machiavellian?

I'd argue, as have some already, they are not conservative. I'd note in addition to what has been said; that they are in fact trying to take us back in time to when lords ruled over their fiefdoms with impunity.

18. What ever happened to "reactionary"?
Not only is it apt, it's a visceral word that even a third-grader can understand: a pig-headed, close-minded thug who reacts unpleasantly to any change or niceness.

It's sad that the word "liberal" has been so demonized, but fighting that battle is a waste of breath.

Good thread; it should be pointed out that they're extremist economic monarchists.

21. Because Conservative isn't a dirty word
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 12:58 PM by sampsonblk
Liberal has become a pejorative. Here in PA, Specter and Toomey both ran ads proclaiming they were the most conservative. But you never see Dems - even way liberal ones - running ads claiming they are the most liberal.

Where are the proud liberals?

Specter and Toomey also ran ads claiming they each stood by Bush the most. And that was AFTER David Kay had said there weren't any chemicals.

Repugs have guts. No brains, no class, no honor. But they sure do have guts. That's what we need in our party, IMHO.

28. I asked that 2 days ago

When our guys were having to defend this non-sense.

I have never heard "Liberal" blathered around so much as over the past 2 days. These people are scared shitless and they are going, dusting off the cobwebs and pulling out one of their oldest and most predictable plays ever.

We have seen this move before...I trust our guys will have the proper way to deal with it, and quite possibly come out on the good end, but we can't run from the word and we can't cower in a corner...We need to take these people on head first.

29. Let's call them exactly what they are
Lying fascist treasonous criminals who think they are above every law of God and man. They have proven themselves to be so repeatedly from the Florida coup to 9-11-01 to Iraq to their open discussion of their intentions to disrupt the 2004 elections.
