Theresa Heinz Kerry impresses the hell out of me
I'm watching Larry King Live and Theresa is fabulous. I especially liked her answer about being independent because she came from a communist country. She is smart, down to earth, and will be a superb first lady. I like her more than Kerry, but I have to admit he is growing on me...some. :)

1. I agree
It's going to be nice to have an actual human being as first lady again. One who thinks for herself and actually has a pulse.

I saw her a few weeks back.. on the telly... very impressive individual... she was going through her personal history growing up, going to school... the usual topics... but very very nice! I immediately had respect for the lady.

8. Theresa is spectacular - a real grand dame.
She is a combination of Eleanor Roosevelt (honest, committed, dedicated, involved, nurturing) and Jackie (gracious, sophisticated, intellectual, elegant European style and sensibilities).

She's quite something.

I adore her.

Newsnight did a piece on Theresa by Sally Quinn....Sally absolutely adores Theresa! She said Theresa is A real person, not a politician .

The more I see Theresa, the more I love her. What a great First Lady she will be!

14. A comparison between Teresa and Laura and Elizabeth and
Lynne.

Teresa: real, down to earth. Laura: Stepford
Elizabeth: Smart, compassionate,positive,optimistic
Lynne: venomous,hateful,pessimistic.

15. Very smart
When she talks about her childhood and going with her father to visit patients (he was a doctor) you can see where her passion for good health care comes from.

I liked it when she said she works in a nonpartisan way - that she is practical and looks for solutions.

She also said she was a registered republican and changed a year and a half ago to a democrat because of what the republicans did to Max Cleland.

27. YES! I loved when she talked about why she switched to Dem
after what the reps did to Cleland.

I've been meaning to read more about her at Kerry's website. Thanks for reminding me.

Part of the reason why i took a closer look at JK is b/c of her previous interviews. I like her honesty.

22. Just the kind of woman fundies hate
and anyone with a scrap of decency loves.

She's not subservient, and she's not shrill; it's wonderful.

Maybe some women may have some trouble with her, but very few, and Elizabeth will be loved far and wide.

But to be a little nit-picky, I don't believe she's from a Communist country. She lived under dictators but I don't think Mozambique was communist. It was Portuguese and I think that was more Fascist.

I could be wrong.

24. So far right wing has tried and failed to get anything negative going
against Teresa. It doesn't hurt that she calls herself nonpartisan and was a Republican until after the 2002 election when she switched to Democrat after they attacked Max Cleland's patriotism. At first the media said she was a loose cannon and potential liability for Kerry but the more she talks, the more sensible and intelligent she sounds! Kerry seems totally comfortable letting her openly speak her mind. I had a good feeling about her after the Barbara Walters interview when she talked about abortion rights and her miscarriage and her remarks generated sympathy rather than criticism.

had lived under dictators. And I believe it is Mozambique she came from. Now you all know why those of us in Western PA love this woman!

26. i loved reading this about her in todays ny daily news:
Heinz speaks slowly and quietly, often saying heartfelt New-Agey things that sound alien on the stump, like predicting a coming "time of wellness."

this was from a column about elizabeth edwards (being from florida and a "navy brat") -
God is so on our side with these 4 people and families!

29. Bob Jones University
First, she's a Republican.

Second, she studied at a racist college that was worse than Bob Jones University. University of the Witwatersrand in APARTHEID South Africa.

Third, she has been talking about living under a dictatorship. Yes, under a WHITE dictatorship in COLONIZED Mozambique.

Do we really need a corporate imperialist racist colonist as first lady???

and speaks her mind freely about these issues. Hence, she scares the hell out of the Repubs.

31. Did you hear her
on Larry King? She said she hasn't changed her mind on the issues.

She's supporting her husband, and good for her. But this means Kerry's in bed (literally!) with the most reactionary potential first lady in history.
