Poll question: How does Obama get past the Wright comments? |

Real issue? Swift Boating? Tempest in a teapot?

1. Both Obama and Wright need to let this die now. |
|
Wright should've never started this asinine PR campaign. Obama did the proper thing today with his comments. No one benefits by belaboring this needlessly. It would have already been yesterday's news if Wright didn't keep opening his mouth.

2. I voted "go after Hagee," but realistically I don't think Obama will. |
|
He's staked his candidacy too heavily on being "nice" and "clean-cut" to risk being seen as "angry" now. But if any candidate can strike a balance between the two extremes, Obama is the one.
As far as doing what's politically expedient in the short term, yeah, I don't think he has any choice but to gently distance himself from Wright, without giving the appearance of burning bridges. Once again, if anyone can maintain the balance, he can.
