'Kerry Edwards' Web site belongs to bondsman

The Associated Press

Last Updated: July 9, 2004, 08:35:19 AM PDT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Web site Kerry Edwards started two years ago to show the world photos of his toddler son has suddenly become hot property. The phones at the bail bonds business Edwards owns started ringing with calls from people and groups wanting his kerryedwards.com Web address even before Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry announced John Edwards as his running mate Tuesday.
That day, the Web site also received more than 51,000 hits.

One of the first calls was from the Kerry campaign, asking Edwards to donate the domain name to the campaign. But the 34-year-old Indianapolis man said he won't be giving it away because he's gotten some offers of up to $30,000 for the name.

He said the callers have included an advertising company, a Wisconsin investment group and a Republican in Texas promising to pay more than the highest bidder to keep the site out of Democrats' hands.

2. Another story highlighting Republican values...
.. so he's been told that the "investment" company and a "Republican" in Texas (of course)will pay more than ANY highest bidder to make sure the Democrats can't get the site? Is anyone as tired as I am of shrill, angry, dirty, Republicans? They are bullies and pricks. They refuse to win an election fair and square. They use every method available to screw Democrats over... whether it's registering as a Democrat to mess up the primaries, pulling childish crap like that website deal, donating money to Nader and gathering signatures for him, to paying people to falsely accuse Democratic candidates just for publicity. I could go on for hours about the things they've done: photo ops, church recruitments, running candidates with similar names against a Democrat, filling events with only hand picked faithful and present it as a spontaneous crowd, packaging fake news stories for television to push their agendas. They are without shame, and without ethics.

It's so wierd.. for a while I felt that the Democrats should sink to their level, because the American voters seem so oblivious to the GOP tactics, and only fell for the results of them. I felt that the only way to win was to play their dirty games of hate and smear and trickery. I just don't feel that way anymore... NO ONE can sink to their level. We haven't the clout, the access, or the network required. We haven't scores of people around the country willing to suspend every shred of decency they may have possessed, all the while proclaiming to be good Christian people. And.. I just don't want to be about dirty tricks and hate-mongering. We need to continually fight the media to SHOW these types of deceitful moves, these tricks, these mean-spirited attacks. Let the GOP be the party of cheats, liars, and poor losers. I think the public is tiring of the hate-speech, tiring of the dirty tricks, and tiring of the anger.. Kerry and Edwards are offering up an optimistic, yet strong, vision for America. I choose to embrace that.. and leave the GOP to fester in their own filth...
