Could These Words BE Any More Overused? |
|
"Gravitas" and "Levitas" ...
Someone got a hold of a word-a-day calendar and has been overusing this pair for a week now. Levitas isn't even a word according to Merriam-Webster, but I've seen it used by Newsweek!!
Newsweek magazine's Richard Wolffe said: "Beyond the poll numbers, Edwards fills two big gaps in Kerry's profile. Where Bush needed gravitas in 2000, Kerry needs levitas four years later."
It's getting old already!
Dear journalist posers: You do not sound any more intelligent using Latin than you do when you write in English. You also sound like a total moran when you make up fake Latin words. And your facts are usually still astoundingly wrong!

We'll owe him for that pretentious Latinism for years to come.
What a fucking wanker.

Now there is a word that doesn't get used nearly enough in this country. I think wanker is a wonderful word. One of the greatest things to call someone, too. deb http://www.votewhileyoustillcan.com

3. Why did this pair just come to mind? |
|
"Syphilitic twats"
Now there's an insult. Oddly enough this just popped into my head when trying to think of the worst thing I could possibly call someone without formally cursing.

6. I like "gravitas." It has an implication that no other word has. |
|
I've never heard of "levitas" though.
