I was accosted by the Church Lady today, this is S- P- E- C - I- A- L
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 05:32 PM by doc03
I ate lunch at a Cracker Barrel today. A couple tables over there was a young man in his early 20's with a small child about 2 years old, the man had a prosthetic leg. I guessed he probably lost his leg in Iraq. After finishing lunch I was browsing around the Country Store area, I was looking at a T-shirt with a fishing scene on it. This lady walks up to me and asked if I was a fisherman and I said, yes. She said, she was fishing for votes for George Bush*. I said, you aren't going to catch any here. She then starts telling me how she started praying for GW to become President 10 years ago before he was even Governor of Texas. She said, can I ask you a question, did "GAWD" tell John Kerry to run for President. I said, I have have no idea. She said that some people think GW acts cocky but the reason was that "GAWD" came to him 4 years ago and told him to run for President and that is why he is so self confident. (This is where I could kick myself in the ass for not asking if he was on drugs or booze at the time). Anyway I was already upset after seeing the guy with the prosthetic leg. I said I just sat across from a young man with a prosthetic leg and he probably lost his leg in Iraq and I read this war has already cost every taxpayer $3400. (She is starting to back away from me at that point). I said, think of how many schools and how much good we could have done in this country with that much money. She said, that this is a rich country and we have schools and "GAWD" wanted us to help the people in Iraq. I said, lady
you're nuts! She said, she would pray for me. I said, I will pray for
John Kerry. (At this point she vanished into the restroom).

1. We stopped eating at Cracker Barrel
when they fired the waitress for being gay. This woman did good work but that wasn't enough, it was enough for me.

5. I remember a recent post...
about Cracker Barrel...

It sounds like Cracker Barrel is a haven for right wing-nuts!

11. We do not have Cracker Barrels here
But if what everyone here says it true about them, folks who have them in their community should visit them often and loudly discuss J. Kerry and F-911. Hold some meet ups there.

Oh--And just drink coffee--we would not want to give them a penny more- But take up their space for an hour

One, at least. I went there once--would never go back. The food was terrible, and the atmosphere reeked of Repuke filth.

30. The boycott is over.
http://www.shame.org/detail.html?14

"The board of CBRL Group Inc., the parent company of Cracker Barrel
Old Country Stores and Logan's Roadhouse restaurants, has voted unanimously
to add sexual orientation to the company's non-discrimination policy. "

The battle is over. We won! It would be a shame to punish a company that has a non-discrimination policy, but I think they are really overpriced and I don't care much for the menu. Other than that, we don't have to avoid them. :)

The food can be pretty good, though, in a hearty sort of way.

37. stroll around the store and drop
anti-boosh, pro-Dem cards in the displays of merchandise.

We have a Cracker Barrel in my area, and it is ALWAYS jam packed during "winter visitor" season. Not quite so many this time of year, but it's still plenty busy with RW locals (very near major AFB w/lots of retired military).

6. Geez, these ole koots don't ever approach me with that kind of crap....
But, oh, what fun I could have! What is it about Cracker Barrels, though? I think she ought to hang out at IHOP (about 3 or 4 AM). She'd catch quite the audience to "preach" at in most cities! Of course they might be a little raucous for her...heee, heee, hee!

Seriously though, I wish she'd (inadvertently) approach a Christian Minister or Priest from a very liberal church, who could patiently counter her garbage in a way that would have to challenge her core beliefs. Aasuming she is not totally brainwashed by this RW crap, the epiphony would be fun to watch.

12. I was approached by a Bible distributor once
She was a young girl, very polite, but my wife and I were enjoying a romantic sunset near the GG bridge in San Francisco, and we told her no thanks.

Just then, her female adult supervisor walked by and snidely said: "What, don't you want to go to heaven?"

My wife snapped back "Not if we have to spend eternity with hypocrites like you!"

It was so quick, she was so cool. Lol.

The look on the Church Lady's face was priceless. You could tell she was unaccustomed to being sassed. We could feel her pain.

Well, no, actually, we couldn't. BWA!

places. I remember a story from Selection 2000 in Missouri (no less) where another nutcase was working a polling place and told a voter that God wanted him to vote for Bush.

16. Bush spoke on screen in my parents' church last Sunday.
They are in their 80's and don't like to get involved in controversy, but they were both quite upset. The Sunday morning service was about prayer and they had GW on the big screen discussing the importance of prayer, etc.

My parents asked me to write a letter for them to sign and send to their pastor saying that they didn't appreciate injecting Bush into the Sunday morning service in an election year ... that they have always believed in separation of church and state and that includes not promoting George W. Bush in church.

I'm going to write a real good letter to the pastor, friends.

21. That is beyond horrible.
The phony piece of shit pontificating on the importance of prayer - and the pastor forcing it down the throats of worshippers? I can't imagine that your parents were the only ones upset by this. I'd hit the pastor where it hurts - in the collection basket - and I'd let him know how offensive it is to be forced to listen to a murdering, lying, thieving SOB making bogus pronouncements about prayer when the only gods he worships are money and power.

26. A church/synagogue/mosque can lose its tax-exempt status...
if they promote a candidate. You may want to send a note to the IRS as well...:)

One of the churches in this area, got into some deep stuff when the preacher started talking up bush to the masses looking for spiritual guidance, and getting political rhetoric instead.

A religious institution can do a lot of things in the political arena, but they cannot request/require that people voter for specific candidates or parties. Lot's of trouoble in many of these places because preachers/elders cannot keep to message of spirituality and insist on jumping into the political arena....:)

18. Sounds like the nutcase who was handing out flyers
at the rally in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday. He handed them out to everyone leaving the rally face down. We all turned them over to see a header saying "Why Christians can't vote for Democrats" (or something like that, I didn't spend much time looking at it). You should have seen the litter at his feet. Hope he was Christian enough to clean up his mess.

For anyone standing around, just say, "This is George Bush's base!"

The sad thing is that my whole family says the same shit. They are brainwashed by the ASSemblies of GAWD and KKKriostian TV. The Nazi Republicans can do no wrong, and everything evil is blamed on Bill Clinton's penis. I even have an idiotic niece who got pregnant at 14, 16 and 17--she had three kids out of wedlock and her welfare han now run out. What does she do? She begs for food from the ASS of G and votes Republican. What else does she do? She blames Clinton for her pregnancies, saying Clinton made her do it!
