Fun on the tarmac tossing a football yesterday in NM...looks like fun!

They are headed to North Carolina for a rally today around 4PM on the campus of NC State in Raleigh, NC. Bet the crowds will turn out for the native son!

1. You know, with all the talk about these photos of Kerry and Edwards

it looks to me like the campaign is trying to project youth, vitality, and teamwork in contrast to the old school and tired ideas of the Bush administration. And age has nothing to do with it -- it's all about the attitude. Bush* is associated with death and destruction, a failing economy, and corporate fat cats, and the campaign wants to convey the idea that the Kerry-Edwards ticket is a breath of fresh air, a new optimism that will get things turned around and back on track.

I think after this first week of photo ops, we'll start hearing more substance from the Kerry-Edwards campaign. Something tells me these guys know what they're doing!

2. to an extent

I think they're trying to project these things, but since Edwards has come on board Kerry does genuinely seem much more at ease and like he's having a lot of fun ... that could turn out to be more important than what states Edwards may or may not help deliver ... if Kerry comes across to the people as energetic and excited to be talking to them rather than stiff and dull like he has seemed at times in the past and like Gore was in 2000, then people are going to be much more willing to listen to what he has to say

3. Oh, I agree. I didn't mean to imply that these scenes are forced

but just that the campaign is definitely taking advantage of that energy and comraderie!

5. I Think Their Relationship Is Really Growing

Some of the stuff I've seen isn't fake. It is the real thing. It reminds me of a big brother/little brother relationship and everything that goes with that. I always thought that Kerry would choose Gephardt for one reason that being a close relarionship that he seemed to have with Gephardt. But this relationship between Kerry and Edwards just seems to be growing and growing. Folks, we have a good team. They are family. We're part of that family too. We should be really proud of them.

6. Yes. They're skilled politicians, not actors. Their camraderie is genuine.

Admittedly, a politician is by job definition *part* actor (never mind Schwarzenegger, Reagan, etc.), but if heavy hitters like Kerry and Edwards were just putting up with each other, it would show in body language, at least.

If these two guys weren't fast friends to begin with, they are learning each other's value as a friend very quickly.

7. I think that explains

the gay jokes. I think that the pre-choice talking point was that Kerry and Edwards hated each other, and now that they obviously don't, the Republicans can't think of what to say, so they run in the other direction.
