2004 election night
Noon - Bush, Cheney, Ridge, Rice and Asscroft meet in a secret location. Ridge holds press conference claiming a major atack on US is expected to take place in an hour or two. Terra code goes to orange. Bush's last hope to sway some votes his way.

3:00p. EST - Bush meets Musharaf in the white house. Joint 'press conference' follows. Musharaf declares Bin Laden blown away with a missle. No remains but we are sure it was Bin Laden.

6:00p. EST - networks call Indiana and Kentucky for Bush. Pundits are happy. Fox prepares the viewer for what is to come with 10 minute spots "did you know our great president (knows, did, said, signed etc etc) during his first 4 years of the 8 years presidency.

E.V
Bush - 19
Kerry - 0

7:00p. EST - Virginia, Vermont, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Georgia and Florida polls close. Networks call all of them but Vermont for Bush. Reports from Vermont say Kerry narrwly defeat Bush there.

Pundits are close to mass orgasm. "You might well stay at home if you haven't voted yet as the election is decided" mantra is heard and seen 392 times on all major networks during the last 20 minutes.
Rush is high on CNN.

Wolf is behaving like he is the guest and Rush is the anchor. Tries to say a nice word about Kerry but Rush preempt it by saying he knows for sure from sources in Kerry campaign that the "most liberal senator in US history" ate his runnin mate's young boy for breakfast. His daughter will be eaten for lunch and for dinner it will be the biggest of 3 kids with HEINZ KETCHUP. Big grin on Rush's face. Takes 3 more pills and says CNN, ABC, MSNBC should be closed and sued for treason during war times.

7:30p. EST NC, OH and WV polls close. All go to Bush's column according to the networks.

E.V.
Bush - 126
Kerry - 3

Bush calls Kerry and ask him when he is going to concede and how did the little boy tasted. Kerry tells Bush to go fuck himself. Bush campaign issue a press release saying "... the liberal senator from Mass will concede in minutes."

8:00p. EST - a bunch of states (18 or 19) close polls. Rush declare them all for Bush. Wolf tries to say Massachusetts goes for Kerry but Rush calls him a traitor and spitts in his face.

E.V.
Bush - 323
Kerry - 3

The Atlanta SWAT team breaks into CNN's HQ and arrests Rush. He is so high that he actually orders them to leave his EIB studio. Wolf appologizes and gve the accurate numbers.

Kerry wins Vermont, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Florida, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, DC, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Missouri.

The accurate E.V numbers are:
Bush - 115
Kerry - 194

Bush is shown on TV lost with tears in his eyes. Says he knows for Sure he won in FL ("Jeb promised me to win FL"), OH ("these voting machines are fixed and I know I won it"). Babs holds his hand and says "Why do you do this to my boy? My beautiful mind cannot understand why don't you report that Kerry ate little Jack."

8:30p. EST - Arkansas is won by senator Kerry

9:00p. EST - Kerry wins New York, Rhode Island, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico.

Bush wins Nebraska, South Dakota, Louisiana and Wyoming.

E.V numbers at the time:
Kerry - 299
Bush - 132

Bush is on TV saying the elections should be canceled because the terrorists influenced them. Ted Olson is already on his way to the Supreme Court. Bush refuses to concede. Says he knows for sure he won Fl, OH and Colorado.

10:00p. EST - Iowa, Oregon and Nevada are won by Kerry.
Bush wins Montana, Idaho, North Dakota and Utah.

E.V at that time:
Bush - 150
Kerry - 315

11:00p. EST - Senator Kerry wins California, Washington and Hawaii.

Kerry's totals are 385
Bush's totals are 150

12:00p. EST - Alaska goes for Bush, no surprise there.

Final reuslts:
Kerry - 385
Bush - 153

CNN reports:
1. A mass suicide at Fox's HQ.
2. People jumping in joy on the streets.
3. Bush flees the country. Air Force 1 headed to Saudi Arabia. Bandar Bush spotted on the plane too.

-------------------------------------

On a serious note - do you thnk Kerry can win more than 385 EV? In the best case scenario I came up with 385 EV.

9. November 3
After Kerry makes his eloquent victory speech in the early morning hour, the progressives who swallowed their doubts about Kerry and voted for him anyway go to work, and begin persuading Kerry to:

* withdraw American troops from Iraq within six months, and abandon plans to establish a permanent military presence in the Middle East.

* adopt a single-payer, universal health care SOLUTION that covers EVERYONE-- not just another "insurance buy-in" plan, not just another program to make healthcare "affordable", but a truly universal plan that provides health coverage for ALL Americans.

* sign an executive order to repeal the unconstitutional USA PATRIOT Act on the first day of his presidency.

* put a moratorium on new Pentagon spending until it passes an audit on where its missing $1,000,000,000 is at.

* suspend NAFTA and suspend trading with countries that are known human-rights abusers, and renegotiate trade treaties that respect human rights above corporate rights.

* Demand that Israel tear down its Wall, and enter immediate talks to create a two-state solution in the occupied territories that guarantees Palestinian sovereignty and ensuring Israel's security.

....and this is just a start.

We may win the presidency November 2, but the REAL work begins November 3.

10. No, neither candidate can win 385 EV.
The country is so split, I doubt either candidate can win more than about 350 EV, even if *everything* breaks his way.

Starting from http://www.electionprojection.com/elections2004.html

let's give Kerry all the blue states on the map and then flip the following, which are in the "possible" through "well, at least not impossible" categories:

+ The 56 EV in the "Really Close Bush States"
+ LA (9) and AZ (10) because they can be weird.

I don't see any other serious possibles. The highest possible total for Kerry would be 291 + 75 = 366.

Now let's go the other way, in the wake of say capturing Osama and another projection of > 5%+ US economic growth, plus real progress in employment Here are the states I'd put into Bush's column then:

+ The 61 EV in the "Really Close Kerry States"
+ Maine at large (2), PA (21), Minny (10).

I don't see any other serious possibles. The highest possible total for Bush would be 247 + 94 = 341.
