Mickey Kantor is more revealing than Rev. Wright of the inner DLC/Centrist/Clinton Axis
Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:13 AM by Armstead
"Those people are shit..."

"white ni*****"

Okay, if he were some peripheral figure in the Clinton's orbit, his private elitism and racism wouldn't matter.

But, just as some claim that Wright's excesses reflect on Obama, a deeper look at Kantor's attitudes is a Behind Closed Doors reflection of the policies and politics and basic hypocricy of The Clintons.

He was one of the leading negotiators and architects of the "free trade" policies of the Clintons. He was Clinton's Secretary of Commerce for a while.

He prepped Bill Clinton for the 96 campaign debates.

Now a guy who considers the people of Indiana as "shit" and basically as White Trash is not exactly in synch with the "Working Class Hillary" image they are currently trying to project. If that is his opinion of blue collar working people and those coveted Reagan Democrats, how the hell are these people expected to be more sympathetic to the interests of average Americans than Corporate Elites?

The guy who was responsible for implementing "free trade" doesn't quite square with her current claims to be Ms. Anti NAFTA.

Say what you will about Rev. Wright ansd Obama....As a window into the soul of the Clinton/DLC/Corporate/Elite Axis of Neo-Liberal Conservatism and Totally Cynical Politics, this is much more relevant.

4. This is what he said when he knew a camera and microphone were on
He then whispered as if he just couldn't resist saying it, had to crack his friends up and make his point. I want to see their reaction because that would tell us if it was business as usual to be so

ELITIST

and racist

as a regular part of their day.

5. I hope your being sarcastic...Kantor's statement is JUST as revealing as Wright's was...
which is to say not at all. It wouldn't at all surprise me to see it dominating the airwaves coming into Super Tuesday. Given George Steph's recent bashing, it seems too juicy a video NOT to take over the MSM.

And yeah, it hurts Hillary for a reason just as stupid as Wright's comments. I guess the only saving grace here is she really does deserve a bout of her own medicine.

Kantor is directly involved in HRC campaign.

18. Give me a break..
Fine, make it an issue, but we all know this is a fairly absurd attack line. I don't doubt for a minute that it will influence things, as every local station will probably want to play it to look outraged, but it really is meaningless, as well we both know.

Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:17 AM by Armstead
Think about it. This was just one offhand remark, and there seemed to be a distinct lack of surprise or disapproval by Carville and Steph. What does thatr say about what else was going on and being said in the Clinton camp?

More important, he has been one of their major strategists and policy guys. As I said in teh OP, if he were peripheral, it wouldn't matter. But he had a great deal of responsibility and power with the Clintons, and probably still does.

And when you think of the policy implications. "It doesn't matter that we're allowing factories in the Midwest to be shut down. Those people are shit..."

17. I get you wanting to make this a discussion point, but truly...
This really is a pile of BS. Had we had a race where both sides treated each other with respect, even in the throes of competition, you would publicly agree with me. You might anyways.

We all know this is BS, but that doesn't stop us from trying to get it on the MSM wheel of fortune, similar to the Wright thing. I get the rationale, but just between you and me (both Obama supporters I think), this really is a petty, idiotic thing for the Obama camp to bring forward. I'm not saying it won't shave off a point or two, mind you, but it really is petty and meaningless.

30. Whatever dude...I just hope you know you're lying to yourself...
This campaign has been filled with more bullshit than anyone thought possible. VERY little of it matters.

Get pissed about the pandering gas tax idea if you want something "real" to be pissed at. But this???

Again, I just don't have the 'enjoyment' bone that loves to dance on the grave of the democratic party. We truly look like a bunch of imbeciles. The more this stuff goes on, the less chance anyone has a chance of beating McCain. Its truly amazing that we're making that guy look responsible.

Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:45 AM by kenny blankenship
You wouldn't work very hard on behalf of people you thought of as "shit" and disparaged as "white niggers". Indeed, it seems Kantor as Commerce Secretary and lead negotiator, in many trade deals having to do with NAFTA and GATT, exerted himself to screw over American people he thinks of as some subspecies of vermin just because they need to work for a living.

16. What's funny is that his ugly remarks are a reaction to the voters of Indiana FAVORING Clinton
Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:41 AM by kenny blankenship
This is how a Clinton operator views people who believe their lines and who help them: not with gratitude or friendship but with utter contempt. That's the elitism of a con. He views a mark who believes him as his fool.

We'll see if they get fooled again.

Since questions have been raised about this, I'm going to ask the mods to remove or lock this.

If it turns out to be true, I'll stand by it. If not, I'll apologize for my hastiness in jumping to conclusions or trusting something on "the Internets" so easily.

Clinton's campaign has used thinly veiled sentiments like Kantor's, while Obama has never said or done anything within a thousand miles of what Wright said.
