Once a story has legs, it runs until it's beaten to death.

Now with the "It's FAKE!" going out, you will get all kinds of news org's saying "Is it or isn't it?" "Let's FULLY vet this!"

With it this close to the Primaries, damage control will be almost impossible. By denying the N word comment, and not contesting the S word comment only spinning it.

The only sad thing about this, is that I want Obama to win- I just don't want him to win THIS way.

I want Indiana people to vote for Obama because of Obama, not because it's against HRC.

27. exactly
a ruse to give Hillbots a chance to say... oh, but, seee... Blumenthal was sending out racist crap, but someone put up a tape that was forged.

Rove did this same sort of thing with W's Nat'l Guard papers.

If you look at the content of the two campaigns, which one would you think is most likely taking its clues from Rove? Who do the republican want to win (and run against?) It's the Clintons.

Here is more than substantial reason why this would not be coming from the Obama camp- AND more than anything else, sounds like a Republican dirty trick to suppress voter turn out.

Currently Obama is credited with 1737 delegates (pledged and super) and Clinton is credited with 1598 delegates. Of the 795 Super Delegates only 272 haven't indicated for whom they intend to vote.

As such, assuming the remaining pledged delegates break 50/50 -- which given our system of proportional allocation is nearly certain to be at least roughly accurate -- then Clinton would need to win 206 of the remaining 272 Super Delegates to win. In other words, she would need to convince 75.7% of the remaining undecided Super Delegates. This would require her to gain more than 3 of the undecided for every one that Obama picks up. This is essentially impossible and this is why the race is really over. The only think Hillary Clinton can do at this point is continue to damage Obama by (1) attacking his qualifications to serve ("he's not ready" "he's not fit to be Comander and Chief"), (2) providing opposition research to the Republicans (see today's article in HuffPost), (3) making Obama waste campaign cash fighting Clinton instead of McCain, and (4) spliting the Dem and dragging the race out where her followers won't be willing to vote for Obama.

WHY WOULD THE CANDIDATE IN THE LEAD, WITH THE NOMINATION SEWN UP DO THIS? -answer- he wouldn't.

28. Classic red herring, easily debunkable if false.
Clintonites accusing Obamans. Obamans accusing Clintonites. Everybody (well, everybody who's a Democrat) loses.

Now who would benefit from that?

I am looking forward to the time when everybody gets sick of being played.

29. Shultz was airing the audio earlier-

And they did bleep it out, but then directed the listeners to the website to see/hear it in its entirety.

Even after a caller stated that Politico was stating it was false, Shultz (I'm hoping I have his name right, Ed Shultz?) stated he wasn't going to let this go. Not until it was vetted, I stopped listening at that point.

17. This is what I've hated about this campaign. It is like the e-mail smears against Obama
that many Democrats believe, let alone Independents and Republicans.

It hasn't mattered that it is all bogus. It is now believed by so many people that it is pathetic.

Some polls ask if people think Obama is a Muslim. I wish they would narrow it down to asking how many of the Clinton supporters believe the BS in the smear e-mails because from what I've seen and heard (I'm not talking about the political junkies) I think it is a surprisingly significant number.

Of course it isn't true but I certainly don't think the Clinton campaign has been telling people it is a lie when they run into people that believe it.

19. We all would prefer a clean campaign.
But Obama can't set there playing a game of chess while hillary is throwing daggers at him. At some point someone has to drop the chandler on her head to stop the daggers for a while. But if the daggers are flying then chess isn't getting played. Oh, you might be playing a winning chess strategy, but doesn't matter if you bleed to death before the end of the game. We all want it to be a pure chess game, but sometimes the one loosing decides to change the game and you can't ignore the daggers.

20. Those legs can run in either direction
If it is a fake designed to hurt Hillary, those legs will kick Obama until he's bruised and bleeding.

The EXACT same thing applies if it's the real thing.

And the controversy that it MIGHT be fake is as bad as the controversy that it MIGHT be real. It is one unitary chunk of pain, a piece of political http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6181688.stm">Polonium-210.

21. As LBJ once said...
"I just want to hear him deny it."

That said, I saw the original video, and the clip straight out of The War Room, and I listened to the relevant bits with good headphones. I did indeed hear "worthless white n*****" come out of Kantor's mouth.

Who am I gonna believe? Hillary's campaign or my own lying ears?

23. Instead of twisting my words-
Edited on Fri May-02-08 11:44 AM by Mother Of Four
Why don't you re-read the WHOLE OP?

I want Obama to win, but I do NOT want him to win THIS way.

What part of this do you not understand? It was bad when it was done to Obama, and it's bad now.

Look at it this way, if you are in a court of law and a lawyer says something controversial. The other lawyer says "I OBJECT!" The judge turns to the jury and says "You will disregard that remark"

Do you honestly think the jury forgets it was ever said? No, they don't. No matter if it's true or not...the lawyer put that doubt there.

(Edit spelling)

25. Exactly
This is what the MSM has been doing throughout the campaign. They just need something to feed their hungry maw. Anything. True or false, relevant or not relevant, it doesn't matter as long as it serves their corporate interests.

I won't be surprised to hear that this was put out by RW operatives to throw another wrench in our Primaries.

32. I agree with you-

This is what it should boil down to, voters deciding for themselves.

But when misinformation is put out there, how are they actually deciding? I'll tell you, with bad information it makes it very difficult to make the right choice.
