If Bush wins again...
the only silver lining I can possibly see is that he will do so much damage to this country that even the scared stupid sleeping idiots who were not awakened by the 2000 election theft, the Iraq debacle, OR the threat of canceled elections MAY FINALLY WAKE UP when we go to war with Syria, Iran, Canada, France.

The ONLY silver lining...and a tragic one at that. In other words, I hate to say this, but I do not think the sleeping giant is awakened yet. It will take so much more violence and destruction to awaken the idiots we are dealing with - those who still believe there is a link between Iraq and 9/11...

TELL ME I AM WRONG!!!!!

1. I pray that you are wrong,
but if he wins again and continues on this path of destruction, I think the hidden benefit is that he will ensure at least 20 years of Democratic presidents after him. That is if we're still allowed to vote......

4. Wish I could,
but I'd be LYING! If SMIRK & SNARL steal THIS one, you can kiss democracy in THIS country GOODBYE FOREVER, for the NAZIS will be firmly planted in the saddle, and ALL OF US on this site, and sites like it, will be DEAD MEAT, for Asscroft's GESTAPO will seize ALL records, and then we'll ALL be imprisoned as "Enemies of the STATE (SMIRK)"!

5. It's not idiocy
That would be easy to point out and correct.

It's ignorance that stems from apathy. People generally don't care about things that affect them everyday.

...

But I don't think people are scared enough of Bush, but I doubt he wins.

On a similar note, I don't think people are scared enough of Kerry, but that's a whole other story.

11. Bush has angered and estranged international opinion
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 04:45 PM by JDPriestly
I mourn for my country if Bush is elected or re-appointed. A young foreign student in this country told my friend, "The whole world hates Bush. If the Americans re-elect him, the whole world will hate America."

We had the sympathy of the world following 911, but if Bush is elected or re-appointed and we have either a terrorist attack or a national disaster, people in other nations will not support us. They will think we deserve it. I don't even want to think about the consequences. We have to stop Bush.

Edited.

13. They will never wake up.

"In other words, I hate to say this, but I do not think the sleeping giant is awakened yet."

They will embrace fascism, if they think it means security. No dissent! Everyone pulling for god and country! Amerika ubes alles!
Close down the people who disagree with the status quo! Shut down the dissenters in the media. Down with the likes of Rhodes and Franken. Kill the Jews! Rid Amerika of anyone who speaks out against the power elite. They are our redeemers! They know what is best for us.

14. This topic is to depressing...
thinking of Bush&Co. in the white house for another 4 years is counter-productive. Always keep positive thinking alive when dabbling with politics or you just become depressed.

Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 06:18 PM by DaveSZ
Let's pray that doesn't happen.

He's already planning on opening up 60 million acres of wilderness that Clinton created to logging.

Who knows what other countries he will unilaterally invade?

I'm 100% for sending in our special forces to capture Bin Laden and other terror cells, but the neocon agenda is foreign to that.

in the positive thinking arena. There is already a lot of bad news spread by the whipped media these days. BTW, I remember Reagan's win, ouch, another dissappointment.

KERRY WILL WIN THIS ELECTION!!!

17. What will happen is, we'll survive.
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 07:40 PM by Lefty Pragmatist
We survived Reagan. The conservatives survived Clinton. We have all survived (so far) Dubya's first term.

America is a far stronger place, and its people are far better, than political elitists ever think. You guys have to realize that the way to governance is not to parrot these inane hyperventilations about Nazis. There is not *one* person outside of DU who believes that kind of language, and there are millions of moderates who hear it and think, "the rumors are true -- the Dems really are ranting children who aren't ready to govern."

If Bush wins, we'll be in worse trouble as a nation, and we'll have to work even harder as a party to defeat the GOP next time. The thing that is constantly forgotten here is that winning is *not* our birthright. We have to reach enough voters to do it. Is that hard? You bet it is. But if Bush manages it and we don't, despite the obvious benefit to most people's pocketbook and civil rights from our policies and the obvious detriment from his, just what does that say about our party?

It says, if we lose, that we're losers. We better start finding ways to win and redeem the country, and stop all the whining.

19. Ah....a breathe of sanity.....
...I appreciate your rational thinking, sometimes those of us who are hyped about getting Bush out forget to breathe. Of course we know America is strong enough to live through most anything, but it's hard to be patient for another four years.

20. Conservatives survived Clinton?????
Did Clinton bogg us down in a quagmire of a war? Did Clinton turn a surplus into a deficeit? Did Clinton send innocent young people to die in a war of lies? I could go on and on....get your PRACTICAL hat back on, read history, NO GREAT country in history remained "the most powerful" FOREVER? Countries rise and countries fall and they start falling from within.

This is NOT like the end of Clinton's term, nor is it like the end of Reagan's term. This is the start of the downfall of the United States of America - if we allow Bush another 4 years! Don't be so naive to think that we can just "fix it all up!"

Did you read what a lady mentioned earlier? The world hates Bush, if we put back in office, the world will hate US!

What you call whining, I call a place to come and get motivated!

21. Very true
America can survive another four years of Bush. Comparing Bush to Hitler is ridiculous. He's more like--Jefferson Davis--a poor deluded soul who is wrong about every major issue of his time. History will not be kind to him.

22. Let's all take a deep breath
If the W wins, I think the American people will get four long years of a painful lesson on Constitutional Rights. Another four years of this administration will be a real low point, but on the other side of it will be an American electorate that will finally value just how remarkable the US Constitution is. If you look back through history, you will find that tyranny never lasts forever. Sure, it may take a long time to defeat, but freedom is far too powerful a force to fight indefinitely.

Lao Tzu teaches the value of water. It is soft and supple. It seeps into the lowest parts of the earth. It yields to the more powerful. But over time water always overcomes whatever obstacles stand in its way. Freedom is like water. Teach this to your children, and the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will live on, not just for America, but for the whole world.

26. I don't know
I do know that enough people can be fooled all of the time.

Examples:

The largest deficits in history are because of 911 and the Clinton recession.

The reason why we went to war in Iraq on faulty info is because Bush inherited Clinton's CIA.

The Monica Lewinsky affair had nothing to do with sex

etc.

I think there a lot of people who use the internet for all sorts of stuff but don't realize its political info potential
