Focus group in Dayton, Ohio indicates trouble for Bush
The dozen independent minded voters sitting around the table here Tuesday night are the face of trouble for President Bush.

Seven of them voted for him in 2000; all 12 are middle of the road folks who sometimes back Republicans, sometimes Democrats. But as the president campaigns for re-election, only four say they are leaning in his direction. None describe their support as rock-solid.

An improving economy? They don't feel it. Talk of new jobs finally being created? "240,000 new jobs at Taco Bell, and our manufacturing is draining away to Indonesia and China," snorts Deborah Harris, 53, a homemaker who voterd for Bush four years ago and is undecided now...

2. I doubt Bush gets 2 of these people
But I don't get this "Bush would be great to live next door to" thing. Ick. There goes the neighborhood! Why do people care if someone "looks" presidential or would be fun to party with- chances are they're not going to get to "party" with the prez and brains are more important than looks, right? At least in a president they ought to be. We have had good looking presidents, so-so guys and just plain homely (Lincoln). It didn't affect their thought processes any. AND I'll bet Lincoln was about as much fun as, uh, I don't know what- and he will always be one of the best we ever had. Sigh.

3. I dont' get that either
Bush doesn't come across as friendly at all to me. He comes across as an arrogant prick who smirks all the time.

4. Kerry should add a "Have a beer with Kerry" segment to every campaign stop
He should remind everyone that since bush* is a "recovered" alcoholic and is actually unable to sit down and have an actual beer with, so he thought if it was good enough for a poll question, why not do it for real.

The event definitely must be screened for legal age persons and provide mandatory transportation from the event home. Can't have a damn idiot freeper with a fake id driving home and killing someone to make the event backfire.

5. Front Porch campaign
Maybe that's the idea there. Lemonade works as well as beer.

6. There you go! And they can still work in the bush* is a "recovered"
alcoholic deal. When someone asks why lemonade, Kerry can say it's just in case bush* comes by he can participate too, because since he's a dry drunk, beer would be inappropriate!
