Texas Obama Canvassers on the ground in N. Car.! |
|
Edited on Sat May-03-08 07:04 AM by thevoiceofreason
Mrs. Voice and I got in to Durham last night at midnight. On the flight over, and once we got into Durham, everyone loved our Obama gear and expressed their support (except for one, but that's ok). We're getting ready to head out and knock on (down) doors all day. Our flight attendant, also from Texas, confessed that she had arranged her schedule to have a layover today so she could canvass too. I'll let you know this evening how this worked out!

Walked a heavily democratic precinct in Durham. Excellent contact rates (over 50%), excellent results (we are asked not to reveal the exact numbers, but I'll just say that if our numbers hold up that certain demographics are being polled very incorrectly). Signed up new volunteers, and noticed that everyone knew exactly where to vote on Tuesday. Heard by second-hand sources that the three Durham early register and vote locations had monster lines - estimated wait was about 2-3 hours. This is shaping up to be an epic night on Tuesday.
