Change To Kerry

Just got this in my email, sounds like fun!

Hi Folks for Kerry!

I regret to inform you that I can't attend any big fundraisers before July 29. A few years back, I quit my career to be a stay at home mom. And while we certainly never go hungry, still I need to buy my kid (who's growin' like a weed) an entirely brand new school wardrobe, shoes, etc. within the next month and a half... So as much as I hate to admit it, I just don't have a whole lot to send the campaign, as I would like to do before July 29th.

And I know there are others in the same situation. So many people WANT to do more but not everyone, unfortunately, can... But that doesn't mean that those of us who can't afford to write a big check for fundraising events can't do SOMETHING!!! That's right! We ALL can do SOMETHING to help... and here's my idea! (I promise you it is so easy, that YOU can do it too) !

Between now and July 25, I encourage you to join me in this challenge...

In the next 10 days, I challenge you to make a CHANGE to John Kerry as our next President by finding and collecting your spare change FOR Kerry! That's right. I'm challenging you (yes, that does mean YOU) to be on the lookout for your spare change... look for it on your car floor (under the seats) and console, on your desk, atop your kitchen countertops, in your change purse, on the bottom of your beachbag and handbag, under the seat cushions in your living room ...look everywhere! (Note: Yes, even pennies do count).

Now, take all of the change you find and put it in a bowl or jar wherever you're likely to see it constantly (for me that's on the kitchen countertop). Add your change to the bowl everytime you find a coin. See a nickle or a penny in the parking lot? PICK IT UP, BRING IT HOME, and PUT IT IN THE JAR. Keep doing this until July 25.

On July 25, you will be asked to count the money in your jar, and send to me an email stating the total dollar amount you collected. You will then be given the address for the John Kerry for President campaign to send in your donation (via check or pay on the website via credit card). Beginning on July 26, I will take all your emails with your collected amounts, and come up with a GRAND TOTAL TALLY COLLECTED. I VOW to get ALL OF AMERICA's change contributions added up (per the emails you sent me) by July 29 (the day of the Democratic National Convention). On July 29, I will send out a letter to announce to America the TOTAL AMOUNT OF CHANGE THAT AMERICA COLLECTED! Those of you at parties on July 29 can check your emails that day to make the announcement at your parties!

Won't you please join me in this challenge of making a change TO Kerry by collecting your Change FOR John Kerry as President?

Let's see if we can't come up with $10 MILLION DOLLARS in change alone by July 25th!

And please forward this on to every Kerry-lovin' friend you have...Even a check for $3 or $5 will add up and go a long, long way in helping to unseat GWB!

1. A silly question- can Kerry make any use of these late donations?

If we give him money on July 29th, how long is he allowed to tap into it before the federal funds limit his spending?

Anyone know?

2. Give it to the DNC

You're right and I didn't even think of that, although I know it. But they would just give the money to the DNC anyway, so it would still be helpful.

I'm willing to make signs and meet you at Woodruff Park to collect change for Kerry (we'll give the homeless a run for their money).
