SNIP..."The District 12 U.S. House race may not be the most exciting of this season's political contests, but it's possibly the most diverse.

The front-runner is 29-year-old Republican incumbent Adam Putnam, who's best known for his youth and resemblance to Opie, the red- haired child on The Andy Griffith Show. His opponent in the primary is Bob Wirengard, a ponytailed supporter of Dennis Kucinich for president.

On the Democratic side, there's Bob Hagenmaier, a suspender- wearing Christian who opposes abortion and gay marriage, and Jeffrey Siemer, who's gay.

"Don't you love America?" Putnam said with a laugh about the pool of candidates.
But competition is competition."

Jeff Siemer is our local candidate who is running a strictly grassroots campaign with no paid staff at all. He qualified through signatures, while his primary opponent (a democrat who opposes abortion and gay rights)hopped in the day before paying the 10,000 fee. Even though Jeff is not a Dean Dozen, Putnam last week made fun of him and said Howard Dean and his millions were coming after him. Jeff got written up at the blog for being insulted so badly.

Adam Putnam.....all he knows to do is insult. He needs to go.

You know what I wish? I wish we could all get into at least visiting the sites of various candidates, and maybe posting those we support. Instead, there is still some insulting going on toward others. It is keeping this forum from being a useful tool for the election. It could be very powerful for helping other candidates than just the presidential ones. After all, the title is Campaign 2004. Just my two cents.
