This is the mantra of the Clinton campaign once again. It worked for Hillary in PA and OH and it may work for her in IN also? The Obama campaign cannot afford to underestimate the value of this issue in this part of the country. That is why Hillary will win big in KY and WV, also. It is not about racism - it is about jobs.
Hillary has given Obama an opportunity to address the issue if he chooses to take advantage of it. The gas tax holiday that Hillary has proposed will give the average American $28 over the 3-month summer holiday. And there is no guarantee that the oil companies will not increase the price of gasoline to make up the difference of the gas tax. That is what happened in Illinois when they tried it once before. And Obama voted for it. He now admits that it was a mistake.
However, the important point about the gas tax holiday is that it will take away billions of dollars from the highway trust fund and, by some estimates, could cost thousands and thousands of jobs. Would it be worth it? Most people would say "No". So it is about jobs. Jobs! Jobs ! Jobs !
Just as the Iraqi war has affected our economy and has caused the loss of jobs in our country, so will the pandering idea of a gas tax. Obama needs to address this issue more aggressively if he wants to win or do better in places like Indiana, KY, and West Virginia. These folks are very nervous and anxious about the economy. Once, again, it's the economy, Stupid.

2. The one thing that might help Obama win IN is... |
|
that it is an open primary. Independents and Republicans can both vote for a Democrat. I think Obama is stronger with both of these groups than Hillary, contrary to some other views.

8. I'm afraid Rush Limbaugh's idiot fans |

will turn out for Hillary. Also, I think Reverend Wright has hurt him with those two groups. I'm afraid that dynamic of independents going for Obama may no longer be in effect.

will people go for pandering or serious solutions. I hate to say, I think they will go for pandering, but I'm proud as hell of Barack just the same.
