McCain sought and now openly has his endorsement. Where's the 24/7 coverage?

25. Nail on the Head....It is a double-standard but at the same time -- its "new"
since the media has never seen this new angle...granted Wright's message was pulled out of context and he was upset with how people were treated, Hagee is outright saying people deserved to be slaughtered and Hagee is the true evil of this world while Wright is trying to help it....but for the media all they want to sell it as is a black man hating america...sure its a lie but since normal americans will never investigate then what the media says becomes the truth....sure hagee could be news but since he is white then for americans they wont see it as anything new because they have pastors who say things like this....the angle is clearly "black" that is the news and introducing it to white america even if the media is lying about what he is really saying to the national audience....it all comes down to ratings

2. Hagee was not Obama's pastor of 20 years.
Obama has a personal connection to his controversial pastor. McCain doesn't have a personal connection to Hagee.

I'll vote for Obama if he is the nominee. But there is a difference between Hagee and Wright.

7. Hagee is a Baptist, McCain just attends a Baptist church
I think McCain is a religious noob, Hagee is one of the biggest anti-Catholic nuts of them all.

8. The point is, McCain sought his endorsement
Why would McCain want the endorsement of someone like this? He doesn't have to have a personal connection to Hagee for this to be a problem. To me, this is much worse than Rev. Wright.

16. I am so tired of this argument. A church is greater than its pastor/leader if
we go by your rationale what is your excuse for the Vatican IGNORING what has gone on in the catholic church for how many years.

It is so convenient to throw separation of church and state EXCEPT when it is suitable. I am lutheran and there have been some interesting theology I have found out but I am not about to leave my church.

Clinton, Bush, and a host of others belong to a cult (Skull & Bones) Yet that does not concern you.

19. We go back and forth over Hagee and Wright...
Edited on Sun May-04-08 08:19 PM by MadMaddie
has it occurred to anyone that this is the very reason for "Sepeartaion between Church and State".

This should be a non-issue but religion has been allowed to take a front seat since * and the Neocons have been at the helm.

Why has there not been talk of all of the Catholic Congressman and women attending a church that is notorious for pedophilia? We can play this game all day long...and yet it does nothing for the crumbling US infrastruture and economy.

Religion is the opiate of the people....I never understood that until now.

26. Only black pastors get raked over the coal by the MSM.
A white pastor has a blank check to say what ever they want - that has been proven this last month. It's institutionalized racism that can clearly be seen by anybody that looks.

were happy to rally their flock around the neo-con causes of the last 8 years. The MSM blood for oil cheerleaders take them for natural granted.

31. It's worth recalling the controversy over Kennedy's Catholic faith
When Kennedy ran for election, many people argued that he would be motivated by the spritual dictates of the Pope rather than the best interests of the American people. It's sad but true that the Catholic church has not always been so friendly towards Jewish people, notwithstanding the suffering of Jews during ww2. When I was growing up as a Catholic, every Easter we were reminded that 'the Jews' were responsible for the crucifixion of Christ, since Pontiius Pilate offered them a choice between having Christ released or a somewhat popular brigand called Barrabas.

Mitt Romney had to go through something similar when he gave a speech explaining what it meant to be a Mormon and how his unusual faith could provide him with spiritual fulfilment but wouldn't be a barrier to leading America (I might add that I respected him quite a lot for doing for doing so - I don't think he is such a bad guy).

Obama has had a hard time with the issue not just because he has to explain why he draws spiritual inspiration from a brand of faith that is foreign to a majority of people in America, but because he has also had to address deeper atavistic fears to do with ethnic identity which transcend rationality to some degree.
