Yes, racism still exists... but Americans have stood up before, and I believe they can and will do it again.

"My story is not possible, except in the United States of America. I could not be here were it not for the fact that somebody, somewhere stood up for me. And Because one person stood up, a few more stood up. Then a thousand stood up, and then a million stood up. That's why Hillary Clinton can run for President. That's why I can run for President.

Because somebody stood up.

And the question now is: Will the Democratic Party stand up for the next generation? That's my Patriotism. That is why I'm running for President. Those are my values. Those are your values. That's what we're fighting for in this election, and if you'll stand with me, if you will vote for me then I promise you, we will not just win this nomination, we will win this general election, and you and I together will change the country and change the world. God bless you. God bless America." - Barack Obama, Friday night.

10. You like McCain's "tone" and Bush's "tone" better?
You really have Bush term 3 or Obama..........

Or maybe you're just kidding... "tone" matters to you?

Or are you willing to "throw them under the bus" for another 4 years with McCain?

7. Why do we even NEED a goddamn "uphill battle" to elect the Idol of the Obamatrons?
Edited on Sun May-04-08 10:25 PM by smalll
This is supposed to be the Democrats' year! Obama and Hillary are running on virtually identical moderate-moderate-liberal platforms. LET'S JUST WIN! I'll be pissed off no end to have to fight some useless (and likely losing) "uphill battle" just to stroke the inclinations and sensibilities of a bunch of latte liberals who want to martyr themselves on an unelectable half-Kenyan because they think it will somehow make Da Almighty Yoof love them.

(On Edit: if anyone takes exception to the tone of my post, just know that the OP set it, with his little moving-picture of the strange new god.)

8. could you try and fit more cliches into your next post?
I think you may have misrd a couple. And just a wee bit more ugly? Obama isn't half-Kenyan. He's a American citizen obviously- no matter what his father was. And I, for one, think he'll be easier to elect than Hapless Hillary.

if we can do half of what we set out to do that`s better than nothing and will give us the courage to get the rest..you do`t have to worry because if we succeed everyone to will enjoy the fruits of our labor...even you if you like.

Just because we don't have enough positivity around here.

Ok, the "uphill battle" part may not seem all that positive... but it's somewhat realistic. Yes, there are racists in this country. But that doesn't mean we have to bow down to racism.

Oh, and, of course I'll be there!

(And for the other side, yes, there are sexists in this country too. But if Hillary should win the nomination, I'll be there too!)

29. Absolutely, and I just tucked in a part of the "next generation".
Being in Oregon we vote by mail - my 12 year old daughter took the ballot from me and filled in the oval for "Barack Obama". I was so proud, and I hope that is one of her best memories...

37. No.
You can call everyone who doesn't choose to vote for Obama racists if you want. The accusation doesn't make it true. You can call me a racist if you want, I no longer care. I will not vote for him. I do want to thank the Obama supporters here for solidifying my stance. I would rather leave the Democratic party entirely than be a part of this ridiculous high school popularity contest. You make me ashamed to be called a democrat at all.
