We held our Congressional District caucuses in WI today |
I was attempting to make it to Denver, but it was not meant to be. We elected 3 fine delegates, and one alternate. It is always interesting talking to fellow activists and finding out that we agree on so many things. I enjoyed listening to all of the speeches, the passion that people have for Sen. Obama's campaign. My speech was totally off the top of my head, just rambled on about Obama's judgment and hopes for transparency in federal government. I rather enjoyed speaking in front of so many people, which is strange, because normally I detest public speaking, but when the topic is something I have a strong belief in, I guess I just run with it. The amount of "campaigning" that folks do to become a delegate surprised me quite a bit, and I admit, as a semi-introvert, I was at a disadvantage when it comes to making the rounds. I had really hoped to help a fellow county delegate make it to Denver if I could not make it, but he came up just a whisker short of being the alternate. All in all, it was a great day, though, just meeting some fired-up politically savvy people made the 3 hours of driving and 4 hours of caucusing all worth it. GOBAMA! GO Wisconsin delegation, do us all proud!

3. I've gotten quite a few emails from people campaign to be a delegate |
in my state. I won't be able to attended any of the conventions to vote on delegates, but I have in the past. There is some intense lobbying going on. My advice is get out there and make yourself well known and try in 2012.

5. Yep, the key will be to participate locally more, which I look forward to doing |
I am pretty new to being "immersed" in politics, but I am meeting interesting people, and look forward to helping out with the local and national elections this summer and fall.
