Kentucky's Largest Newspaper Endorses Obama
Yesterday the Courier-Journal, Louisville's main newspaper and the one with the largest circulation in the state of Kentucky, endorsed Senator Obama in the May 20th primary. Although the editorial board wrote, "at a time when the departing administration has steered the nation severely off course, Democrats are blessed with two candidates of intelligence, vision and vigor," they nonetheless concluded that, "Sen. Obama's relentless focus on change, and the hordes of new voters he draws to the polls, would make it hard for his victory to be read as anything other than a mandate for changing how Washington works."

1. I hope the Lexington Herald-Leader...
will do the same. The Herald has a very liberal editorial board so there is a good chance they may also endorse Obama. Glad the Courier did. The Obama office here in Lexington is very active and really doing a great job of getting Obama's message out. I don't think that Hillary is spending very much money in KY because of the polls being so weighted in her favor. I actually haven't seen any Hill bumper stickers or yard signs but the Obama ones are out there.

7. I won't bother
it's pretty easy to research the ownership of the press.
But, what's the use. You guys aren't interested in learning anything
unless you can use it to post and bash Hillary here.

....b o r i n g ....

13. so, when the Indianapolis Star endorsed HRC, did you make the same comment?
After all, the Star and the Courier-Journal are both owned by Gannett.

16. Maybe so. But you realize of course that your original post was BS
You didn't state that endorsements in general are stupid. You stated that the Courier-Journal's endorsement of Obama was "proof that local papers aren't locally owned." Of course,a paper under the same ownership endorsed HRC, which pretty much completely debunks your attempt to suggest that this was some corporate headquarters dictated endorsement.

Not that I expect you to admit that you were wrong.

17. I was wrong; Can I try again?

Endorsements bug me in general because you can never know the real motivation for the endorsement.
I tend to think that most of the time, they are caused by things unrelated to the person or entity's true opinion.

Newspapers are sometimes owned by corporations or individuals who may not even be local or may be under pressures
unrelated to anyone's opinion about what is best of the country.

3. This is big for southern Indiana
The Louisville Courier Journal is very influential in southern Indiana. For those folks on the fence in that area, this may help nudge a few over to Obama. Good timing!
