Republican Ex-EPA Chief Criticizes Bush

Russell E. Train, who headed the EPA from September 1973 to January 1977 — part of the Nixon and Ford administrations — said Bush's record on the environment was so dismal that he would cast his vote for Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites).

"It's almost as if the motto of the administration in power today in Washington is not environmental protection, but polluter protection," Train said. "I find this deeply disturbing."

2. This is a real statement about Bu$h. A republican former EPA Director

voting for a Democrat because he sees Bu$h's environmental policies as destructive. What a slap in the face to the prince of darkness.

Bu$h is, in almost every way, the worst pResident in American history.

Solid stuff in there. Yesterday, their front page introduced one of those articles thus:

• Nationwide, since the Bush administration took office, federal and state authorities have sharply cut back on clean-air enforcement actions at many of the nation's 145 oil refineries, even though they remain among the country's worst air polluters, a three-month investigation by the Star-Telegram and Knight Ridder has found.

Not like we had no idea of course... But it's encouraging to see solid investigative work actually being printed - prominently.
