Did Cheney's ties to Iran prevent Bush from taking action? |
|
Okay, I saw two stories today
1) There in no evidence that Iraq collaborated with 9/11 terrorists but there IS evidence that Iran did.
2) Haliburton is under investigation for violating the ban against doing business with Iran. Haliburton apparently violated this ban WHILE DICK CHENEY was CEO.
So our media ("Duh, what is going on with the Peterson trial.") fails to even ASK the basic question. "Did Dick Cheney's business with Iran help shield it from focus after 9-11?" After all, Michael Isikoff just reported that the information about Iran was KNOWN by the Bush administration in Nov or Dec of 2001! But they focused on Iraq instead of Iran? Was it because Uncle Dick played footsie with Iran?

3. He was on CNBC with that Maria Borger (sp?) .... |

... when he made the statement. There should be a transcript of that show coming up. Also it may be in his Newsweek report and I would expect it to be in the 9/11 report. He stated very clearly that the Iran information was new to the commission and new to the public - but the Bush administration had that information way back in late 2001.

Maybe Hannity will mention it tomorrow how he is disappointed that Cheney had been dealing with Iran illegally while heading Halliburton. That's if Rush, O'Reilly or Savage don't see the discrepency and mention it before he does. After all, it would be the right thing to do.
I trust they will make the proper judgement.

7. Maybe, but it could be simpler-- |

Iran is big and dangerous, and Iraq was weak and available. If you wanted to become a sucessful war president and wear an aviator costume under a "Mission Accomplished" sign, which would you pick?

9. Maybe this is the reason the Sandy Berger |

story was leaked now...as a pre-emptive strike to keep the news away from Cheney & Halliburton.

10. The media has totally dropped the ball on covering Halliburton/Iran news |

in their frenzy over the Berger story (and the Arnold 'girlie men' remark) even though the Halliburton subpoena story is potentially more explosive since it involves Cheney setting up a sham Cayman Islands 'unit' that did not physically exist in order to circumvent the federal prohibition against U.S. companies dealing with Iran. Sen. Frank Lautenberg claimed that the Cayman Islands unit was a phony setup and pushed for an investigation 5 or 6 months ago but the media has yet to explore this story.
I would not be surprised if the Berger story was timed to dominate all the media attention so that the Halliburton subpoena story would slip by unnoticed. The RW responses seem orchestrated with all their talking points well prepared on the Berger story. I don't think the WH wants any focus on Cheney's Iran dealings.
