The crusty old bastard who's been cutting my hair for the last decade started talking politics. |
|
I don't talk politics, and he usually talks only about sports. We're immersed in the campaign in Indiana, and he's bursting with it.
And, he's an Obama Man.
Awesome. I always figured him to be a Republican.

edited to add- A barber is a great resource for the Obama campaign to have.
He talks to a lot of people. Hope he tells them to vote and to vote Obama!

31. Early voting starts here tomorrow. From today onward people who want to register |
|
have to go to their county seat, but we have same day registration and voting at the county buildings.
So we (the campaign) are done registering voters for the primary and are now registering for the general.
Also, the colleges are doing bike and votes so we can get the students voted before they go home for the summer.
Gobama!

12. Actually, it's pretty funny. The tube was on CNN and Pickles was talking about "Burma" |
|
... and the offer of aid we're giving. The barber agreed with Wolfe Blitzer that it was odd that Laura was talking about the details and not the Prez. "Well, two things are certain: she's more popular than old George and she's a helluva lot smarter."

at the rally. He knew what it meant and adjusted conversation accordingly ;-)

There's a lot of hidden moderates out there, who might have voted for Bush once or twice, and now have learned their lessons, have read the papers for the last four years, don't like the way the country is going, can't see an end to this war without getting rid of the old Washington politicians.
What state are you in?

He reminds me so much of every 60-something Bush freak I've ever met, that I just assumed he'd never vote for a Dem.
I'm guessing you really don't want to hear his comments about Hillary.

They're damn good listeners, hard workers, and good with a sincere nod of the head.

17. Many years ago, I dumped my dentist for yakkin' with his assistant |
|
about the wonders of Bush, and all that he could do for us.:puke: And he had Rush blaring on my very last visit, I shit you not. You know what else? I owe him 87 bucks since 2002, for lying to me about dental work, and what it really cost as opposed to what it DID cost. I pay him in three to four dollar increments, only to keep my damaged credit from being even more damaged. I tell by word of mouth, if it comes up, that he's a scammer. We have a business too...so screw the prick. Word of mouth can make or break ya.
I now have a politically-atheistic kind of Dentist, who came recommended for keeping HIS mouth shut, mine open, and dental work done. :D (and my smile's so damn pretty!)

I started out as a Republican.
I voted for Nixon in 1972 when I cast my first vote ever.
I voted for Carter in 1976 over Ford because I disliked Ford very much.
I voted for Reagan in 1980 because I was stupid, but in 1984 and 1988 I voted Libertarian as I was transitioning out of the Republican Party.
It's been all Dem ever since.

But, in 1972 I actually liked Nixon. I guess I was young and gullible or stupid or influenced by my parents or whatever. It took years for me to figure out what a mistake I'd made.

from time to time, but can't actually remember when.
I think he really likes the Michigan Secretary of State b/c he runs the DMV and my dad claims it's the best run agency in the state.

He voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. When it came time for our state primary, he was the one who convinced me to switch my support to Obama. (I was originally a Biden supporter.) He is now 150 percent for Obama. You just never know!

25. I found out my 65-year-old female barber |
|
was an Obama supporter.
I have to admit it made me smile--being surrounded by old, cantankerous farts that would rather vote for the traditional corrupt wing of the Democratic party rather than accept change, it was nice to see that someone else saw Hillary for the two-faced cretin she is.

And, I got great entertainment for the low price of $13.
