Good attendance at Andreas fundraiser in Palm Springs today.
I think this is a great way to work for candidates. Sounds like it was a big success.

Andreas Event a Huge Success
Governor Dean was in California today, where over 600 people showed up for a luncheon and rally to support Mary Ann Andreas, a Dean Dozen candidate.

Many thanks to the DFA supporters in California who turned out to support Mary Ann, and to everyone around the country who has given to her campaign online today.

An article last week on her campaign takes a look at the historic nature of the campaign that you're helping to build:

The 23-story hotel-casino rises out of the desert along Interstate 10, less than a mile from the shotgun house with dirt floors and no plumbing where tribal leader Mary Ann Andreas grew up.

One of 64 tribes in California with gambling rights, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians has transformed itself, phoenix-like, into a political player by contributing millions of dollars to campaigns.

Now, as the tribe prepares to open its new 660,000-square-foot resort near Palm Springs, Andreas is attempting to become the first American Indian elected to the California Legislature.

"We never had the money to get to Sacramento, much less mount a campaign," said the former tribal chairwoman who Democrats hope will unseat Assembly Member Bonnie Garcia, R-Cathedral City, in November...."

2. Here is part of a neat summary at the blog.
SNIP..."Gov. Dean's speech was vintage and great -- actually took the DLC to task. And then he stood on-stage w/ all the other local officials and candidates while Ms. Andreas spoke, applauding her.

OH, and Ina Jaffe from NPR was there, doing a story on Dean's/DFA's support for local candidates. She was following Ms. Andreas around and when she heard we had come from San Diego, she stayed and interviewed my friend, Scott Pigman, about why he'd come to a fundraiser for a candidate he can't vote for. And of course, he told her he'd come to hear Gov. Dean, but also to support a candidate who reflects the values and goals of DFA in being for the average person, not the big-money special interests...."

I found somewhere on the blog tonight that two Dean Dozen did well in the primaries. Can't find it now.
