not only will the Huckabee republicans come out in droves, the base of the party will fracture. Ralph Nader (or, rather, the Greens/Nader) will declare to give the base a place to vote, and the 13% of whites that won't vote for Obama will vote for McCain anyway.

wanna take any bets on this?

4. Even with the nuclear option, Obama will win the nomination.
After May, he'll be so close to 2,025 that a small number of SDs will seal it.

That would be a disaster for the party.

We would lose probably 20-30% of registered Democrats who moved to independant if she did that.

On a side note, I hate to think this way but Im not sure at this point that she would care about damaging the party.

That we would blindly follow him no matter what he says.

Just because Obama says half heartidly I support the nominee...doesn't mean we will.

38. The Republicans can goosestep en masse into the voting booth and McCain still won't win
unless Democrats defect.

If that happens I hope there's more substance to that choice than simple pique.

But to show his open-mindedness, he goes further-- he wants her to put Obama on the ticket.

27. Not a chance.
Too many Dems would sit it out rather than vote for her under those circumstances. In addition, the GOP would come out in force thinking here was their perfect opening to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, and they'd make a substantial amount of hay out of how she 'won' her nomination.

Add to that the newly-registered Dems, especially the young ones, who will be totally disillusioned with the party and will not only refuse to vote for Hillary - they may walk away from the party forever, taking their future votes and their future financial contributions with them.

For those reasons and more, the 'nuclear option' won't be allowed to happen.

30. Yes. Half the country wants Hillary as the nominee.
And the netroots will make a big fuss about it but most of them will vote for the Democratic nominee in November. Blacks will likely vote for the Democratic nominee in November.

Hillary will likely win more electoral votes in the general election with the "nuclear strategy" than Obama would likely win in November without the "nuclear strategy".

And after getting humiliated in the GE, then Congress would get their retribution.

It will not end well. The name Clinton would rival the name Bush in terms of political embarrassment.
