It's Finally here- PRIMARY DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA!!! |
|
Just wanted to share some snippets of the days that have led up to this one. It's quiet here now, the calm before the storm. I'm headed out to place yard signs at polling stations (strategy to keep them from getting stolen as our organizer who worked Philly saw happen), then make calls, walk neighborhoods, drive people to the polls, whatever is needed of me. Oh yeah, getting some work in for our locals who must feel a little left out.
It's been so exciting, so tiring, I've learned so much from my fellow Obama supporters. We went to the rally as a group from our County. I felt bad about the time it took away from working for him but I fixed that by phone-banking while I waited in line. I'm so glad I took the time to go to the rally, I amped up what I had planned to do for the campaign by many degrees. It was electric to be a part of that huge mass of people who were ready to make this happen. I was about 8 or so feet from Senator Obama on stage and it was everything and more that I thought it would be. Someone in the crowd fainted and I thought 'Oh no' there go the fake-fainting theorists. I found out later that the someone was a girl from our group! We had been there from very early on standing in line outside - we were in the first groups to go in. We were standing on the floor in front of the stage from 3:00 until 7:00 (I think that's when he came out). The masses of people were manageable until Obama appeared and they 'surged' forward. It was HOT and I myself at one point felt light-headed as I was yelling. All this came together to make her an Obama-fainter. He said the exact same words he said in the fainting montage we've all seen. She still has her water bottle he passed over as a souvenir.
It was excellent, I'll post pictures and add more when I get back, must get the signs out!!
HAPPY NORTH CAROLINA PRIMARY DAY!! WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT!!

The polls have been close there, but she's far more likely to win there than in NC.

by 10:30 there had already been 200 people at that particular precinct (Latham Elementary--unheard of in a primary).
