4. Actually, didn't Chris Rock say
Edited on Tue May-06-08 08:04 AM by powergirl
"Bush has f%**ed up so bad," (Rock) will posit to any and all congregants in braying loops of oratory, "that he's made it hard for a white man to run for president. 'Gimme anything but another white man, please! Black man, white woman, giraffe, anything!' A white man's had that job for hundreds of years — and one guy f****ed it up for all of ya!"

"And: "Each candidate tells you how humble they are. No, you're not humble! Do you know how big your ego has to be to say you wanna be president of the United States? Do you know how much Puff Daddy juice you have to drink? How many Kanye injections you have to take?"

"And: "I actually think America is ready for a woman president. But does it have to be that woman? . . . She's gonna work in the office where her husband got blow jobs?! There ain't enough redecorating in the world she can do to change that! . . . There's one thing Hillary Clinton's better at than everybody else, and one thing only — and that's forgiveness! Hillary Clinton is the greatest forgiver in the history of the world. Even Jesus knows: 'You really good at fo'giveness. I mean, I talk the talk, but you walk the walk!'"

"And: "Barack Obama — he's a black man with two black names! Barack. Obama. He doesn't let his blackness sneak up on you. As soon as you hear Barack Obama you wonder, 'Does he have a spear?' . . . He's so cool, too, man. I don't think he realizes he's a black candidate! When you're the only black guy doing something, people expect you to take it up a notch. If you're the only black playing basketball with a bunch of white guys — they expect you to dunk! . . . Barack has a handicap the other candidates don't have: Barack Obama has a black wife. And I don't think a black woman can be first lady of the United States. Yeah, I said it! A black woman can be president, no problem. First lady? Can't do it. You know why? Because a black woman cannot play the background of a relationship. Just imagine telling your black wife that you're president? 'Honey, I did it! I won! I'm the president.' 'No, we the president! And I want my girlfriends in the Cabinet! I want Kiki to be secretary of state! She can fight!' "

Obama WON the nomination.
The SDs will simply sign off on his Victory.

18. Since super Tuesday Obama has gained about 85 supers. Hillary only 15..
She started this campaign with more supers then any of the candidates. I thnk she has actually lost more since she has started then gained.. Supers have been trending toward Obama and he has almost caught her.

17. They are a "reform" put in place after the McGovern fiasco
to give the party leadership a way to override the voters to prevent another McGovern.

That makes it especially ironic that the supers are now doing their best to deliver the party into the hands of another McGovern.

But yeah, the existence of the supers has not exactly been kept a secret, nor is it a new thing.

Why do you people assume that anyone who does not think that Barack Obama is the Messiah who is seated at the right hand of the Father and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead must necessarily be a follower of Hillary's?

It kinda reminds me of that guy who always says, "Yer eether with us er agin us." What was his name again?

39. well, usually the dems know who they want going in...
maybe not completely, this primary has been a little more um... intense?

Two giants of the party, head to head... normally super dels usually trickle in virtually unnoticed... this year they were possible tie breakers.

I think they will rethink the supers after this year, this primary was too much for everyone in the party.

24. Who? Just about everybody in 1984 when two white guys ran, is all.
I'd call it stupidest line of the year, because it

1) Offers a false presumption

and

2) tries to ascribe racial connotations where there are none

But hey, it's always about race with the Obama supporters, isn't it. :puke:

Edited on Tue May-06-08 12:06 PM by galaxy21
There are racial connotations here...

Like I said, If it were Edwards in this position, instead of Obama, would Hillary be arguing to the superdelegates about electability? Of course not.

34. If you don't remember '84 that's your problem
I thought Obama supporters were supposed to be educated?

And oh no, Obama's electability issues have nothing to do with Wright and with his failure to connect with blue-collar voters and all to do with the fact that he's half black, right?

31. Those of us with good civics teachers did
I first heard of them back in the 80's during high school and college. Given the state of today's education system, I will cut people some slack if they aren't familiar with the concept.

It must be pointed out that none of the primaries back then were this closely contested either. One front-runner gathered enough momentum to make superdelegates an afterthought, or at best, an electoral fashion accessory. With co-frontrunners, superdelegates have now won attention in ways their creators only dared dream.

vote?

SDs would have bene an issue anyway. But they're a BIG issue to now because of what is percieved to be Obama's unelectability.
